Can confirm. Ate a raw tin of spam recently in the Queensland heat. Got so crook afterward I thought I'd caught Dengue Fever.

American GI's fighting in the frontlines in WW2 ate spam straight out of a tin with their field rations, while Australians today fight on Battle Royale games while eating peanut butter / Nutella straight out of jar with a dessert spoon.

Some weirdos out there think it's a spread or topping. Understandable given that the supermarkets label it in the Spreads section but peanut butter is definitely a straight from the jar sort of thing. The taste is way too unique and it's so filling that there's no real way to mix it with anything else.
