Supplementary Cardholders Excluded from Future Card Sign up Bonuses?

My partner and I have been churning through credit cards and I recently got the AMEX Qantas Ultimate card. I noticed they offer free supplementary cards and was considering giving one to my partner.

I noticed the terms on bonus points say "Card Members who currently hold or who have previously held any Card product issued by American Express Australia Limited, in the preceding 18 month period are ineligible for the Bonus Qantas Points offer."

Does this include holding a supplementary card? She'll probably sign up for a her own Amex in the next few months after we've spent the minimum on my account. Would her holding a supplementary card stop her getting signup bonuses?

Does anyone on ozbargain have experience with this situation?

    To answer your question: No

Supplementary card holders do not impact their own ability to get signup bonuses in the future. It's the primary card holder that is responsible for the credit card debt and is the account holder

I have had direct recent experience, and agree with Kenb0.

    • Have those terms as written in OP always been in T&Cs? Or new?

      • I think that the wording changed to been like that about a year ago at a guess.
