Bose Soundbar 700 or Samsung HW-N950?

Hey guys.

Looking into 2 soundbars to replace my Samsung hw-k550 soundbar.

I'm looking at either the

Samsung hw-n950

Or

Bose 700 (with sub and rears)

I want good clear sound but mostly and biggest breaker, I want the best bass.

My k550 sounds like the sub doesn't even work.

I've been to a couple shops and tries listening but they play Thier special programs and rooms are far to open.

My question is.

They both sounded nice and clear,

Which has the loudest bass?

And is the Atmos going to really give me that much of a benefit for standard Foxtel, Netflix listening?

If it makes any difference, going onto Samsung q8 qled tv.

Cheers

  • My exact question this weekend too. I'm leaning towards the Samsung as it includes Pandora which will work with getflix (assuming it'll work the same as the 2 x HW-J6501's I already have). This and the fact that it can be had for ~$1,000 whereas the Bose 700 with sub and wireless surround speakers ends up being double that.

    • Best I can find the Bose with sub and rears is $1940.

Where can the Samsung be had for the 1k mark?

I've just read so many people having sync and sound issues with Samsung.

But they say when Atmos is running it's real good.

      • eBay; if you snag a 15 or 20% off deal.

        • I managed to take advantage of the ebay specials.

Bought the Bose 700 Soundbar for $815.20
          The base module for $679.20
          The rear speakers for $345.65

Bringing the total package to $1840.05

Happy with that. Just need to fix the speaker stands on special.

          • @shrek4: And you are happy with the bass levels and overall sound?

Ever listen to the n950 Samsung?

            • @Agechamp: Don’t know yet. They haven’t been delivered yet.

I live in the country so don’t get the chance to try before you buy. I rely on reviews.

We’ve an older model Samsung Soundbar and wireless sub which hasn’t been the most reliable. Had it repaired once under warranty already and plays up a bit. This, avoiding Samsung this time.

              • @shrek4: Remember who the seller on eBay was?

                Chhers

          • @shrek4: Hi Shrek4, Could you please post the link where I can do the purchase with the same price.

          • @shrek4: Where did you buy that from. I'll happily take them for that price.

            • @C0mbat: Worth pulling the trigger on $1860 delivered for the complete kit?

Or wait until 20% off sitewide on eBay for around $1750..

              If they do again?

              • +1

@Agechamp: You won't get a 20% off site wide so either pull the trigger or wait a year for the prices to come down in my opinion.

                • +1

@C0mbat: Yeah just pulled the trigger.

                • @C0mbat: A year on (note I only started looking recently and found this thread), but the best price I can find is $1999 from Bose direct (deal at store in Melbourne).

  • If you want the most bass and are at least considering rears with the Bose, why are you limiting your search to sound bar style systems? I am sure you would get much better/louder sound from a separate amp and speakers.

    • I want a no fuss cord free setup.

I actually also have a Samsung 5.1 Bluray home theatre, but want to tidy it up, but want something far better than the 550 I have.

  • +1

I purchased the Bose 700 with sub & rears from JB Hi-Fi $2010 price match ebay 20% off deal back in December. I was torn between this and complete amp and speaker packages, but like you wanted a cleaner, no wires look. I listened to the Samsung N950 to compare in the stores but until you take it home its hard to judge. I can say I am not disappointed at all with the Bose. It sounds amazing and gives out plenty of base for my large theatre room.

    • Cheers for that.

How's it going syncing up with your tv?

      Turns on off automatically?

  • Yeah all good.
The bose remote controls my tv and Dvd.

  • Bought a n950 with Goodguys 20%off

    Let's just say. Not great.

Returned it and buying a Bose 700 setup.

  • +1

Ended up biting the bullet on a Bose 700 full surround set with satellite speakers and sub. Paid $1808.92 delivered, after the 10% eBay cashback over the weekend. Will post back after I set them up.

  • I love my Bose 700 set.

    Fully custom sound settings.

    Bass rocks the walls.

Surround is great and voice is clear.

    Very happy.
