Amex Plus Mastercard/Visa Combo

I'm in the market for a new credit card. I use to have an Amex Blue Sky which had pretty good benefits: $0 annual fee; complimentary travel insurance; and rewards program. However this will be discontinued in June 2011.

I'm hoping to find a credit card combo that uses Amex plus either Mastercard or Visa. Typically, they are part of a rewards program where Amex will provide more points relative to the other card per dollar spent.

If possible, i would prefer $0 annual fee; the travel insurance is not a big concern.

Do anyone have suggestions?

Thanks.

  • Hmm Commbank have one but I'm sure there's an annual fee. You can get it waived if you spend xxx amounts of dollars to get xxxx amounts of points to redeem for the annual fee. but it's some really large amount so not sure that counts as free.

I'm not sure there is one with a $0 annual fee for a Amex/Visaor Mastercard combo. You are asking quite a lot to be free.

  • Theres a $50 cashback on CBA cards at the moment. But if you are looking for reward points, CBA has one of the worse programs.

  • Just recently switched to commbank awards. There are three chocies:

    Awards:
    $59 annual
    AMEX - 1.5 points per $1
    MasterCard - 1 point per $1
    Travel Insurence : no

    Gold Awards:
    $114 annual
    AMEX - 2 points per $1
    MasterCard - 1 point per $1
    Travel Insurence : yes

    Platinum Awards:
    $250 annual
    AMEX - 3 points per $1
    MasterCard - 1 point per $1
    Travel Insurence : yes

All have 55 days interest free

    • And Diamond Awards
      $395 annual
      AMEX - 3 points per $1
      MasterCard - 1.25 point per $1
      Travel Insurance : yes

I have this card due to the 1 million points capping. The other cards are capped pretty heavily.
