VoIP: Free NZ-Based DID/IPDID (2talk.co.nz)

40

Plan is called Casual Go FREE (aka Go FREE).
Go Voice Pricing page (LINK) for the what is included and what is not.
There are TWO (2) ways to sign up.
First method is to go direct to the Signup page HERE.
Second method is to go to a different Signup page (HERE).

  • Choose "2TALK GO FREE"
  • Click "GET IT NOW"
  • This should take you to the "Plan Summary". Pay close to attention the plan under the "Plan Summary" heading.

Important:
* Whatever the option you've picked, make sure you've entered a valid NAME, email address &/or mobile number. (I entered my Australian address.)
* After entering the Signup details, a confirmation email will arrive with the following contents:

We will need to confirm some account details before we can activate your account. Please call +64 28 899 1234 to speak with one of our operators.

We will need to know the following details:
Your name
Your physical address
Your country of residence
Your email address
If you signed up using a credit card we will need a few more card details:
Credit card type
Issuing bank
Country of card issue

  • With Option 1: Either reply to their email or call them. The number is a voice mail box. Make sure to leave your name, the plan you're trying to get and your credit car details.
  • Option 2 will have the facility to take your credit card details. An email will still arrive so ignore the email and wait for the confirmation letter.

IMPORTANT

Give 2talk two weeks to take action (This is a freebie, after all.) If 2Talk does not respond in 2 weeks (like in my case), go back to the main 2Talk website and start a chat. Make sure you have valid dates of when you called &/or when you replied to their email.

Note:

I applied on the last week of February 2019 and I didn't receive the confirmation email until today but only after I had an online chat with them. (Took about 30 minutes after the online chat concluded before the confirmation email arrived.)

Hope this helps.

Request

I'm trying to set up my Asterisk/FreePBX. It says "Registered" with 2talk but what I can't do (yet) is to test the outbound and inbound calls. If someone knows of some 2talk "test" numbers or 2talk numbers that I/we can call to test please list them down.

I may also need a way to test the inbound calls so I'm open to suggestion how this can be achieved.

I used an Aust Post Load-n-Go card with AU$5.49 left in it and my application got approved.

(If scammers want to use that info, then I wish them all the luck.)

  • Sweet deal bro 🤙

  • Oh free cuz, honest to who

  • Why don't you just dial the SIP URI from another device/PC?
That will test your inbound line, and you'll get to see the call hit the system and check if it gets routed correctly.
Alternatively, just call it from your mobile, after making sure the call will just ring and not answer.
As it doesn't answer the call, there's no charge, and you get to see if it hits your system.
Of course, if the system is misconfigured..

As for outbound, assuming the SIP proxy is in NZ, just look up a local number to call, say Vodafone NZ. Local call, should be free or at most 10c unlimited (unless they've changed that long standing agreement)
Tollfrees are actually free in NZ, which was a shock to find out they weren't here.

I used to have all the Clear Communications POPs, but threw them out when I came over here. Probably outdated by now, anyhow.

  • Could do with a free DID in Oz too!
