Roadside Membership for Multiple Cars Discounts?

Hi,

Hope all is well my fellow Ozbargainers.

I was wondering whether anyone out there is aware of any mob that would give a discount on multiple cards for Roadside memberships?

In advance, thank you for your help.

  • What did RACV tell you when you asked them?

  • +3

A hack that works in WA RAC.
Wife gets Premium cover which covers a specific vehicle and any vehicle she drives.
Husband drives specific covered vehicle (registered in wife's name)
    Wife drives husbands registered vehicle.
Husband gets speed camera fine in Wifes registered vehicle and it gets complicated :-D (Not really, I just wanted to add a twist).

    • Husband gets speed camera fine in Wifes registered vehicle and it gets complicated

Fill the form out, fine changed to husband then.

But its WA, fines are pretty weak and don't even include points in the first speeding bracket. Come to VIC, 3 kms over and its $201 and 1 point for 3-10kms over the limit.

In WA I think you get a lolly pop don't you? oh wait 9kms and under its $100 and 0 points. Pfft close enough.

But yes a good hack……. I assume the prem is cheaper than 2 std roadside coverage?

  • RACQ Premium works the same way. Best option for when we had a third car.

  • I have racv total care, covers both my cars

  • When is the last time anyone used roadside assist for anything other than a flat battery that they should be aware of?

Partner asked for this, that's what tow trucks are for, if you ever need one. 25 years and nope from me.

    • My previous vehicle was a total lemon, had it towed about 4, 5 times for free with total care.

Locking keys in the car, running out of petrol or getting a flat tyre, are other reasons where roadside assist is handy.

      • Get a modern Japanese or Korean car.

Ive had slow punctures but never flats. Keys locked in car isn't possible really with modern cars. mine is a prox lock so if its still in the car cant lock it.

        That leaves fuel

    • In that 25 years, did you involve in accidents at fault ?

      • No, neither I or my partner. We live and drive to inner Sydney.

Want insurance against at fault accidents, I highly suggest Subaru Eyesight equipped car.

  • We have a 6 yr old Rav4 - wife keeps harrassing me to pay for our yearly racv cover but i always put it off….surely if you only stick to metro areas you can handle most of the things yourself? Tow if broken, replace battery yourself if flat, change tyre if flat…? is it really worth the min $110 a year…? Is there a cheaper alternative?
further to this - budget direct is $80…maybe worth it?

  • seems to me there's a few options out there beyond the RACx alternatives….
    sometimes
    1) your car insurance may offer this as an option, or
    2) if you car still happens to be under warranty they may offer it "free" if you service with dealer.
