Looking for Air Mattress Recommendations

Hey guys, as the title mentions I am looking for air mattress recommendations as my girlfriend and I are living in a dormitory and the beds here are too small to be share. I saw one on Kmart for 69 dollars and wondered whether anyone has had any experience with it?

Is it comfortable and value for money? Ideally would like something that is somewhat comfortable and it should be able to last at least a year of occasional sleeping on it.

Thanks guys!

can you guess why you never hear of people using an air bed as their long term bedding?

air leakage, they squeek when you move, they have no dual support(one person moves and the other person feels it).

it would be a total and utter waste of money.

you can inexpensive queen mattresses off ebay for $159 delivered. look for a 20% off code and buy this https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Queen-King-Single-Double-Mattres…

and make a base from pallets.

seriously, you are moving in with your girlfriend- you are not camping. get a proper bed

    • Agree with all that and they also make you really sweaty. Sleeping on one when camping is annoying enough let alone using it as a main bed.

    • I thought my explanation would have made it easier but it didnt really, so I've updated my post to reflect my actual situation

  • If you are moving in with your girlfriend and cannot even afford a few hundred dollars to buy a real mattress than I question your decision to move in together and whether it is financially viable. Saying that, I would recommend you spend a little more and get a cheap real mattress, the Ikea ones aren't bad:

Looking at your post history you are a university student. Is it an option for each of you to live with your respective family for now, or do you have to move in together now?

  • The only comfortable air mattress are the ones called 4WD Mats. Something like this: https://www.anacondastores.com/camping-hiking/sleeping/4wd-m…

But they take up a lot of room.

  • You can share a single bed for ahem non-sleeping-time, then one gets the real mattress the other on the floor/air mattress when it is sleep time.

If two single beds in the dorm, push hen close together or put the mattresses on the floor.

Do not get a double air mattress.

  • Have you looked at getting a futon instead of an air mattress? You can usually convert the base into to a couch or the mattress rolls up to be put to one side. They are much more comfortable than an air bed, particularly if you buy the slat base as well.
