Terri Scheer Annual Renewal Vs New Policy

For the people that use Terri Scheer for their landlord insurance, do you find that each renewal can be beaten by their own online price? They offer a 5% discount for purchasing a new policy online and what seems to be no advantage (besides continual coverage) for renewal of an existing policy. Same price, just 5% difference

Am I missing something? If I renew a day before my existing one expires, are there any advantages I'm missing out on?

  • I found that with my nrma car insurance too

  • I find that with almost all insurances. Renewal price is often higher than a brand new quote at the same place.

My last home insurance renewal was 3x higher than a quote from a different company (same underwriter) with the same identical level of cover. Just hop around every year.

    • Yeah, I agree in regards to all insurance renewals, as they bump up the price each year. Found it strange that the Terri Scheer one isn't bumped up, it's just you get a discount for taking out a new policy online instead of paying the renewal (same same, but slightly different)

They do this because a big segment of clients are too lazy to change or call them to haggle. If they can work in some sort of loyalty ruse, even better, multi policy discount, FF points etc. Or better still some sort of threat where if you go with the competition your going to miss out in some way.

Just sign up to a new one every year. That's what I do. Done it 3 years in a row with Terri Scheer now and no issues.

  • I get a company discount with my terri scheer insurance (25%).

    • How did you get 25% discount? Is it employee benefit?

Ring Terri Scheer and ask to renew at the online price

I tried this and they wouldn't budge. The operator on the phone she they are aware people do this and its no problem.

  • I use them and this is the case for me as well every year!

  • Wow. Just got my renewal notice for the 2nd year & found this thread. Called em up & yep, they wouldn't budge but said just let the old policy lapse & sign up for a new one. What a waste of everyone's time…

  • Got our renewal notice this year and they have increased it by a whopping 15.7%! Will see what their quote is on a new policy
