Good Intermediate Drum Kit

Hi
Does anyone know a good intermediate drum kit that isn't too expensive I can buy for around 600-700 and I don't mind if it's used
Thanks everyone

  • The Yamaha Gigmaker drum kit generally gets good reviews as the best bang-for-buck, acceptable starter drum sets… I reckon a used set would be within your price range.

Saying that, have you checked out artistguitars? We have both a Fender Squier and an Artist Guitar electronic guitar and are quite impressed at the quality/workmanship pf the Artist considering the price point. They are an Aussie brand. Coupled with an ebay coupon I think the price for their top of the line drum kit with add on will be well within your range.

  • Hi
Thanks for the reply I checked out the gig maker and it seems as more of a beginner kit than intermediate like I’m looking for a kit that sounds really nice

  • Get something basic that you can add too. If you wanna play rock, keep it simple and pound the crap out of those bastards

  • I just sold my first drum kit as it sounded like crap and it didn’t feel good to play so I’m looking for a kit that has nice sound and I don’t mind adding to it but the problem is all the fuss of finding stuff and I’m not that experienced so I don’t want to get the wrong stuff

    • I don't mean to offend, but have you thought about taking formal lessons? And if you are already taking them, your teacher and classmates would be the best ones to ask about gear (and the best source for quality second hand equipment).

Tthere are many music shops you can visit to test the gear and find a kit that "sounds nice" and "feels good to play" — there is a level of subjectivity about that and I reckon the best thing is to try something for yourself. Heck even a $50 guitar will sound great in the hands of Eric Clapton.

I see you are in Victoria — if you are at all near the City, there's Manny's music at Nth Fitzroy. There is also Cranbourne Music in Lynbrook or that Music Shop Western Suburbs (just google it as I always forget the exact name) in Deer Park. There is another one somewhere up north too.

  • Hi I’ve been doing lessons for just over 3 years and when I’m playing on my teachers kit I sound so much better and it sounds musica but when I used to play on my old kit it sounded like pots and pans but with the buying off my teacher I stopped lessons about a month ago and am looking for a new teacher but thanks I will look at the shops and see what I can find
