Flights to Europe SEP/OCT 2019 + Itinerary

Hello,

We are planning on travelling to Europe in September through October this year and are wondering what are good prices for flights from Melbourne to Europe return (London/Paris/Amsterdam). We would like to travel with Qatar/Singapore/Etihad/Emirates Airlines and are coming across prices ranging from $1300+.
How far in advance is a good time to book?

Also we are planning on going for about 7 weeks and would like to know if people recommend any certain places to visit or activities and also a good way of moving around in Europe. We have been looking at BusAbout and also the Euro Rail.

Thanks team.

$1300 is a good price for that time of the year I doubt you’ll see cheaper. Especially on those airlines.

Places to visit well depends what you want? Beach ? Culture ? Parties ? Cheap drinks ? A bit of luxury ?

I would, fly into London, stay for 5 days, then Paris(3 days) then Amsterdam(3 days) (all by train). After that personally I’d go to Italy (10 days) do perhaps Florence and Venice. Again it depends what you are interested in. Europe is a big place.
    - Rome2rio is a really good website for comparing prices and travel times. For example a bus might be $50 cheaper but take double the time.
    - Book Anne Frank House and Van Gogh museum. Anne Frank needs to be booked months out. You can book tickets to Van Gough online and skip the queue.

    • I would use trains. Euro rail includes Italy now I believe so I would look at that, I’ve heard of Bus about. Never used it though
    • Theres going to be culture, sightseeing, parties/loads of drinks in this trip, Oktoberfest is definitely on the cards.

I will have to check out Rome2rio, sounds very helpful.

Does Euro Rail include Amsterdam trams or any trams?

      Thanks

      • No EuroRail doesn’t include any local city transport. It is only for the larger trains in between cities.

Yeah at $1300 it’s a good deal for That 4 airlines if transits are around 3 hours.
Bus rail hire car all have pros and cons.
Depends how old you are, how comfortable you are driving.
Trains are good but not flexible
Cars are flexible but can be more stressful and expensive
Buses are cheap and you meet young fellow travelers.
If you fly into a different city than you fly out of you don’t have to double back.
    Mel-LHR
    MXP-Mel
    Multi city flight $1200

  • The roads are very busy around London, Paris and Amsterdam. Lots of traffic jams and also driving on the right-hand side in two of them. I won't start about parking a car in those cities…. Use the Eurostar train to get to the cities and use public transport (subway) in London and Paris. Amsterdam is easy to walk around but also has trams. Eurostar is cheaper if you book earlier. Also, book the Heineken museum if you want to go there. FLy in and out from different cities as Stewardo suggested.

  • If you're looking to get more bang for your buck and are open to European airlines, you could fly from Oz to 3 European destinations for around $1200 including taxes and all internal flights.

October is a shoulder season much like May which was the dates I found. I'm not sure if Im allowed to post the page listing the deal but can send you more info or have a look for you if you tell me your dates.

    Cheers, Chaupapa.co
