Don't spend money on this garbage

Because of poor sales, retailers in far flung countries like Australia are getting permission to drop the price of physical copies because it's not economical to send them back to the supplier. In the US, the discounting has not been as swift.

      • +3

        same happened with Fallout 76.

      • Where do you think the distributor is? If a game tanks the distributor will sit on pallets of games that aren’t selling. The publisher will tell them to cut the price to move the stock and from there it flows down the line. Most retailers who have bought stock at full cost price are stuck with it. Same with most distributors. One company in the UK almost went bust as they lost $250k on infinite warfare after it hadassive price drops.

It’s a tad more complex depending on the deals made but that is it pretty much.

Is this the game that has been bricking ps4 consoles?

Edit: not bricking but massive conflict

It's the other way around, OP. Amazon pricematched Harvey Norman's price.

Ah thanks! I just saw the other expired post about HN matching Amazon’s $55 price, and assumed the same happened again.

The fact that you even need a 'fix' to play this garbage is just ridiculous…
Feel for the ones who paid full price

    • I don't. The writing was on the wall if you cared to look.

  • +2

I will wait until it goes to 10$.

Maybe a week, two at the most…

Might be a good buy when it's dirty cheap and when it's actually finished.

  • +1

I'm on the fence of waiting for 3-5 months, seeing if the game improves, and picking it up cheaper. I've never played the game myself at all.
From those who actually have played it, it is a fun game, but riddled with technical problems and unrewarding and repetitive lame end game.

But it is completely up to whoever may read this if they wish to buy the game. Read some reviews from websites instead of youtube video reviews, go check anthem reddit or other written material on the state of the game and if it is heading anywhere.

Check reviews before buying. This game should be free to play with its current lack of content

  • Don't forget 5% off with GAMESCENTRAL code, makes it $45.60

Just curious, out of all the people who are crapping on the game, how many have have it/played it.

    • +2

Not many. The meta these days is to just jump on the hate bandwagon and shit all over everything…

That being said, I do own the game, and in its current state, it is abysmal. I love the game though, and a massive patch that came through a few days ago has made it vastly more playable, but it’s still full of bugs. They really have shot themselves in the foot here. They would have been better delaying the game for months and working on these issues and releasing a more polished game.

The other issue is the end game content is woefully uninspiring if you are playing on your own. 3 strongholds and some repeating contracts to do over and over again. If you have some friends to chat to and you’re helping someone level up their character, it is a great game to waste time on, but there is little sense of accomplishment if playing on your own.

So, yes, I think a lot of people are shitting on the game without even giving it a chance or even playing it, but that being said, EA and Bioware really shit the bed with what could be an awesome game. Division 2 will be out soon and if that doesn’t cause the price of Anthem to crash, I’ll be surprised.

      • yes unfortunately this comment section is basically what youtube comments have become. luckily for me i've been progressing real slow through the game and i've quite enjoyed the story/npc stories/gameplay. There are pretty bad issues with the game but its also nice to see the devs/producers put alot of effort in communicating with the community which is more than i can say about fallout, division, destiny.

the thing about division though is the gameplay is so different that people might stick with anthem even though it runs much better. I was quite excited to play division 2 but that quickly died when I played the private beta and it felt really similar to division 1. granted everything ran much better and no loading screens basically, made me miss the gameplay elements of anthem.

        • Yes! I've been playing it a little bit and it seems really fun! Haven't really experienced any bugs, but only have spent a few hours in it. Not sure what the big angst is against it. :/

    • +2

I have been playing it via EA Access. It's fun to fly around and it looks real pretty, but it just has so many problems.

    • +1

I dont need to eat dog shit to know it taste bad

The game has potential but it will take probably 6 months to get there, although I think the gameplay issues will be fixed much sooner, like they're already doing now. They are responding to player feedback but still have some way to go. No issue buying the game now if you have price protection cover on your credit card, try it out, and claim the price difference back as it drops.

They have stated all future DLC will be free too, so not sure how far they will go with the discounting.

Overall I think people all agree the combat is fun, the environment is amazing, flying is great. BUT lots of small weird poor quality of life features, pretty bad loot system (I think this will be one of the issues they fix pretty soon), limited end-game content (more content planned to be released soon) and also a pretty poor multiplayer experience (an issue I think they will fix later down the track given I expect it would be much harder to change).

I'm at end game but stopped playing for now until more of the loot issues and quality of life features are fixed.

So I'd recommend people keep an eye on the game, but for your time investment and opportunity cost (how much enjoyment you might get from another game/activity for that time) I'd say hold off on getting it.

  • This game has potential but it's not there just yet. I remember when the Division 1 launched and it was fairly boring. Fast forward now to Division 2 and the dev's and company learned a lot from their mistakes. Division 2 is a lot of fun and there is a heap of good content and just that on edge feeling of being in any of the 3 Dark Zones is brilliant. You could say Anthem had a similar launch to Division 1, rocky but still has potential, probably not worth pickup up just yet though till they fix the game breaking mechanics such as the damage scaling.
