Hi, So doing some research and found Spotify in the philippines is dirt cheap. Tried to sign up for an account but bomb out on the payment page, and I am assuming its due to my credit card being detected as Australian. Can I sign up for a PayPal account in the philippines and work around that way or are there alternative ways I can be doing this/ TIA

Probably could; I’ve just added a debit card to mine and pay $5 for family each month.
If you go for premium it works out to be $2 a month and you can pay 12 months up front

Holy crap it worked. Used Hide My Ass VPN, signed up for PayPal, added card and I am now on the family Spotify plan for $5.50/month. Bingo jingo

You know unless you're using a VPN on all the devices all the time, they are gonna notice.

Wouldn't be surprised if they crack down on this within a few months. Netflix did that with VPNs a while back.
I've got a PayPal account and linked my Aus card, I go to Spotify, proceed to pay and I'm getting the message:
Sorry, we weren't able to complete your payment at this time. Please try again later.
I am also trying to get a card to work without it throwing a error at me. I an add the cards into paypal however when subscribing via paypal, it always rejects with this error ' "We sorry. We weren't able to complete your payments or set up pre-appoved payments. "
The cards I have tried:
Commonwealth bank Debit Card
Commonwealth Travel Card
ANZ Rewards Travel CardIf anyone could point me in the right direction, that would be great.
i just got success changing my existing subscription, my previous one was setup using a defunct paypal account that I can no longer login. Had quite a lot of failed attempts in the last month but this time it just went through with no hassle, using coles prepaid card that failed last time.
So I've actually been doing this since mid 2017 and can confirm that spotify have now requested different bank details. Everything was working perfectly for the 6 accounts I was using, coming in at a whopping $5.50 per month. There was plenty of money loaded on my spotify account for them to draw but all of a sudden it's not taking the payment…
Time to buy a philippines preloaded visa i think :(
I don't think it's very easy to do that though. I wonder if getting a prepaid Philippines Visa card is something you can Airtasker!

I've managed to get my account to work again. I used my ME Bank mastercard (debt card). It was a card I had previously used. It was the same email for both spotify and paypal. Best of luck, this is still working even for Aus cards.

steps:
1. Created Phillippines Paypal
2. Added CT bank Card
3. Changed by current spotify country to Phillippines
4. Clicked Premium and paid via Paypal

Didn't require that when I tried.
But my PH PayPal account got limited due to suspicious activity, which I absolutely cannot deny LOL
I recall having to put in a licence number and I used a template/dummy number.
edit: Just tried making a new account and realised you're right - it does seem to now ask for a number!
