OLED Experiences (Gaming & Netflix)

Hi Team,

Just wondering how your experiences with OLED TV 65-75in have been for Movies and gaming like battlefield V and Gran Turismo

I have had Samsung series 7 great panel for 5 years. but looking at the QLEDs they don't look right in person a bit fake colors maybe? and way bright in person

Any feed back would be great and brand/model would be a bonus

  • What about Samsung's quantum dot thing, I think that's what I saw across the room at JB the other day. It looked like a portal into a universe that looked more real than our own.

  • It's gotten a lot better, but you still need to watch for burn-in issues with OLEDs, which can happen with parts of the interface when gaming.

    • This. I have an LG OLED which suffered from a screen burn issue a few months ago. Essentially we noticed a large square (maybe 1/6th of the screen area) of screen burn in the centre of the TV. It turned out to be an issue with the panel calibration and the repairer that LG allocated were able to apply a firmware fix and correct the issue.

BUT, at the same time when he was diagnosing the issue he pointed out that we had a Stardew Valley calendar / clock in the upper right of the screen burned in to the image. Both my partner and I used to leave the game paused and walking away so it was a classic case of burn in. I'm not sure how they fixed that but it was gone when they returned the TV from doing the other fix. For all I know they didn't actually do a firmware upgrade and just replaced the panel. :P

I've been WAY more careful with the TV since then.

      • how to find a gaming partner ?

        • -1

          …he's probably a guy…

  • A screen that's too bright is the right screen. Otherwise you have no need for HDR.

  • I have a 2018 QLED, its the bizz for gaming.

You're just used to crap washed out colors, like me and my old SONY panel. Wont ever go back to standard LED after QLED

Can run QLED @120hz input at 1080p, input lag is very low as well.

    • Sweet man, glad to hear your wraped with it,
      Did u get the Q7 or Q9

      • Q6, same panel. I only use a HTPC smd onboard youtube app. So dont need the connector box that q7 has for $500 more.

  • Sweet yeah the black box (brains) looks bulky in the q7 and up

  • I thought OLED was the new tech tv to purchase, but i have the feeling not many people review them well

  • I've had an LG 55" C7 OLED for just over 18 months now and still going strong.

Have not suffered any burn in at all.

It was a bit bright out of the box, but once you have a tinker with the settings you will have no issues.

As for gaming/movies, I have my PS4 Pro/Foxtel hooked up to it. Quality is great, have not encountered screen tearing or anything of sorts.
Netflix in 4K is absolutely sublime also.
