Fitbit Pay with CBA CC

Hey guys,

Got my Charge 3 today….tbh considering returning it lol…

Not sure if it's just me but I'm having a time to set up Fitbit Pay ..

First time it went through but tried at few places, terminals didn't recognise.

I then removed the card and when tried to add again it keeps saying "Sorry but there was a system error"…so annoyed!

Thanks!

  • No issues with Fitbit pay on my Commonwealth Visa and Mastercard Debit. I'm using a Versa though, maybe try factory resetting it and starting from scratch again.

    • Assuming no issues paying using it? I've got it set up now but it's not working at a few terminals I've tried on….

Never had any issues making payments with it. I've used it at the major stores and also smaller ones and it has always worked.

        • Argh very jealous! I'm returning mine tmr.. Way too buggy maybe I got a bad unit.

  • Also no issues with my Versa with ANZ visa.

  • OP: Contact FitBit Support

Forum Hijack: Do you need to 'enable' FitBit pay every time you use it, or is it always on? I like the idea, but for it to be always active puts me off.

Future Tech: Comes up with 'Accept $X Payment' (isolated wireless/bluetooth - mustn't go to other patrons), touch accept, then press against terminal.

With the Versa, you don't need to do anything apart from hold the watch up to the terminal when it asks for payment.

What don't you like about it being always active?

edit: oh I see, worried about your fitbit picking up someone else's tab. It has to be right against the terminal for it to work.

      • I don't know enough about it, but having a way to turn it on when you're making a purchase sounds like a good idea!

Terminals are getting smaller and therefore more mobile (look at SquareUp). It wouldn't be hard to make embed a terminal into your clothes (thin mesh), and then 'accidentally' press up against the watch (think public transport, clubs/bars where you'll have you arm down, noisy environment.).

Make your terminal named something like 'Beverages <insert city name>', take out $5.95 each time via an international account (somewhere our jurisdiction doesn't go, say Russia etc). How many people would even dispute it?

Not sure if this is even possible, but you know how technology is! Someone will invent/abuse it!

The same thing could be done with a physical card in your wallet unless you're using a shielded one.

          • @yippy: Exactly. You can use a shielded wallet to prevent issues if/when they arise. Can't really shield BankWest halo ring or FitBit.

  • I have a charge 3 and commbank MasterCard. No issues works great. Maybe post on the Fitbit forum

  • Thanks guys…new issue arised…Now I finally can add the card but realised my sleep tracker isn't working..

It shows up on the Fitbit app but not showing on the Charge 3..

Sleep tracking is bugged, hopefully there will be a fix soon for it, only thing stopping me from buying one currently.

    • haha yeh it's annoying!I might even return mine :|

  • Not sure if you're using yours correctly, you need to long hold the button and put the pin in (after every time you take your watch off at least). Then your card details should show up on the screen and you can use it at a terminal. If you hold it at a terminal without doing this, it'll still beep but it won't work.
Also, the pay terminal has to support contactless payments.

    • Yeh I'm pretty sure I did all that…

Tried at cafes, coles and butchers etc, all accept contactless payments… Anyway I returned it yesterday
