Clearly Contacts are giving away free glasses again. Taken from their Facebook page (which you have to 'Like' in order to view the Free Glasses promo):

Terms & conditions:
Residents of Australia only. Promotion starts at 8am EST on March 29th, 2011. Free glasses include the frame and standard 1.5 index lenses. Maximum 25,000 frames available to be redeemed over the span of 5 weeks. All upgrades including coatings, progressives, bifocals, tints, and high index lenses are not included with this offer. Shipping and handling applies. Some frames may not be eligible. Limit 1 per household. Previous free glasses recipients excluded. ClearlyContacts.com.au reserves the right to cancel orders. Please note: Multiple orders made from the same computer and household will be cancelled.

How Does It Work?
Step 1: Click the like button above to reveal the coupon code!
Step 2: Click here to go to our website and pick your favorite pair of glasses.
Step 3: Starting on May 9th, starting at 8AM EST, place your order and enter the coupon code at checkout to get your own pair for free! If you miss out, try the other dates!

What Do I Pay?
Believe it or not, you pay absolutely nothing for your glasses (with prescription lenses included!!) You only have to pay for the shipping and handling. (Typically, this will be about $10-15.)

What does it include?
Your free pair of glasses will include the frame and standard 1.5 index lenses.

Can I order any pair of glasses on the site?
Certain frames are not eligible for the promotion. If you see a "Coupons not applicable" message on a pair of frames, then it is excluded from the promotion.

Can I order sunglasses?
The free promo is for our glasses selection only. However, if you would like to make a pair of prescription sunglasses, you can add a tint to your lenses and simply pay for the cost of the tinting, which is about $30.

How long does it take to get my glasses?
Most glasses take about 2-5 business days to ship out. However, due to the expected volume with this promotion please allow 10 days for us to get you your order. If you order progressives, Transitions or add a tint to your glasses, it may take additional time.

What if I don't like my glasses? Can I return or exchange them?
We want you to love your new glasses! If you're not happy with them for any reason, we will allow one exchange for another free pair at an equal or lesser value. We'll even pay for the return shipping and send you a return label. Just give us a call at 1-866-414-2326 to make arrangements. Please be sure to keep your box and all the accessories that came with your order.

How will I know if I got one of the free pairs?
The free glasses coupon code will only work until it reaches the limit specified on your printout. Once we’ve reached that limit, you will see a message that tells you that the code is no longer valid and will not apply the discount to your order.

Awesome site, I myself got some prescription glasses for ~$15 (including all costs), for their last promo last month. Definitely cheaper than the ~$150 pair I got from the optometrist and quality seems to be similar. Best bargain yet.

  • I dont need glasses, but I saw some ski goggles on there, can I use the code for the ski goggles?

    • I'm not sure but it does say "The free promo is for our glasses selection only" so maybe not? You could always just try on the day and see if it'll take the code at checkout

you have to see which frames are applicable

as expensive brands are not free

  • Just be warned you may choose your glasses wait nearly a month for them to come with only 1 email explaining the delays… Then after that be told that your chosen frame is actually out of stock.

Which is of course what happened to my wife when I showed this to her last time.

    • That's unfortunate to hear but I got my specs within a few days of ordering them, couldn't believe how quick they turned up (just regular AusPost - not FedEx).

    • Hey… They actually gave me credit as a compensation. In the end I was able to purchase a different model for a more expensive price and still receive $15 credit to my PayPal account.

Giving out medical items like glasses shouldn't be allowed.

    • Why?

    • +4

you realise you cannot "overdose" with glasses

sure it will affect your eyes if they are not in proper use, as with other everyday items(i.e. water, scissors, pen, etc)

Because instead of having regular check ups tight asses will reuse the same script. Eye tests aren't just about specs

      • +2

erm, or people could get there eyes tested, and then buy these glasses using the new script

        • … exactly as baz123 said, I went to get my eyes tested and then ordered last time they had a promo

      • or some could be like me getting prescription-free glasses just to look like a nerd :D

haha, i remember someone asked about this before in the last ClearlyContacts promo thread.

its a new trend to wear glasses even though your eyes are fine…

  • Got some glasses from this deal last time they ran it and am really happy with them

  • " Promotion starts at 8am EST on March 29th, 2011. "

Can anyone clarify date of promo please?

Its been every Tuesday for the last 5 weeks, this is the last week. We got some and are very happy with them.

Shouldn't be marked Freebie, as you do need to pay postage & handling.

Great site though, I got a pair of glass from here last time !

  • Also have only got good things to say about clearly contacts - got some for myself, and both parents. Seems that if you get a tint added to the specs (which costs about $20 extra) that it delays the order by about a fortnight, but they've always been good frames and reliable with their communication as to how the order was progressing.

  • The glasses I received last time were extremely crooked! And no it wasn't due to tightness of the screws. Completely unwearable even for home. However, the glasses my girlfriend received were fine. Had bad luck of the draw I guess..

  • Too bad their promotions always limited to 1.5 index lenses. I require -8.00 lenses and in 1.5 index they are too heavy and thick..

    • Same here - but at least it's cheaper than buying from Specs Savers/other retail store ($100 as opposed to $650 for one pair).

    • i thought so too last time, but i ordered the 0.00 for both and despite being out of the range, it was still free :D

  • Does this mean that most Ozbargainers wouldn't be able to claim on this deal :)

  • Great bargains. however, credit card information was kept with the site after ordering and there is no option to choose if this information should be retained or not.

Any one knows how to remove this credit card information from your profile from the site?

    Many thanks

  • Ordered last week on the 9th, came today, and they're perfect! Great deal.

  • ordered last week and it came today also, very, very happy! I will definitely be purchasing from these guys again!
