Flybuys Points - What do you spend your points on?

So for those that collect flybuys points, what do you usually spend it on to maximise your profits?

At the moment the Coles voucher seems to appeal the most. I can either sell it or use it myself at coles.

They do have ebay vouchers, but you can only use 1 per transaction, they can't be used with other codes or coupons, and you forfeit any amount left on the card after use (so it's not a normal ebay voucher).

Just after some ideas!

  • Didn't know you could redeem them for eBay vouchers. How strict are they for redeeming more than 1 $100 voucher per transaction, have you tried more than 1?

    • Not sure how strict - but this is what the terms and conditionsn say:

You can't combine a flybuys voucher with any other discount offer or gift card.
Vouchers can only be used once (the balance doesn't carry over to another transaction).

      • I learnt the other day it is to the letter. I couldn't combine with 20% off voucher for all those Good Guys deals the other day. So I had a bunch I couldn't use.

Ended up doing the most OzBargain thing you could do with them and bought an exxy dashcam!

Plus Target, Coles Express, First Choice Liquor, Liqourland, Kmart Auto & Tyres.

  • i bought an airfryer at target with mine :D

  • I use the Flybuys Dollars towards my Xmas grocery shop.

  • I split my flybuys between Velocity points and getting BCF to price match deals at Rays/BBQ Galore etc.

I also use points for Target/Kmart/Coles Xmas shopping as suggested by dylo.

  • velocity points.

I keep mine until the bonus transfer to velocity

Most often I use flybuys $ to shop then use the $ I would otherwise have spent to purchase items I want elsewhere.

I recently used flybuys $ at Target to get a couple of hundred $ worth of kitchen canisters to organise the pantry.

That is going to save me a lot of money because, with knowing what I have, I am not going to have food buried at the back and get too old to use. Last time I did a clean-out I ended up with 6 plastic shopping bags of food that was past its best.

Flybuys dollars is the most practical way to use them (assuming you shop with Coles group) in my opinion.

Flybuys dollars/ Coles gift cards give the best value IMHO. Using points to purchase goods, etc on the flybuys store is just wasteful. But as long as your can get $5 worth of stuff for every 1000 points (or lesser!) it should be fine.

  • Save it for Christmas time and use it as flybuys dollars.

I think I will eventually switch to transferring it velocity points, but it's Christmas for now.

what do you usually spend it on to maximise your profits.

There is a remarkable propensity for people losing their money in these programs to talk about losing money in terms of earning money as though there is a net gain occurring instead of a net loss.

So here we have OP talking about maximising their profits as they lose money more money than before.

If one plays the game right they can do rather well out of these loyalty schemes. I think of it as being subsidised by those who can't control their spending.

  • Coles/target gift cards
Thinking of transferring Citibank points to flybuys (15% bonus points) as you get gc for less points with flybuys

    • Citibank have the worst rewards scheme IMO.

  • Flybuys dollars to spend back at Coles.

  • Velocity generally. Though used $200 recently to book an obscure motel in Merimbula that I couldn't see advertised other than on flybuys travel.

Flybuys travel if you have enough points

    • Absolutely not! Worst option

      • How come?

I've found their deals competitive? Genuinely interested as didnt think it was that bad lol

Convert flybuy dollars into eBay vouchers and buy eBay gift cards. Yes it works I did it 3 times last week, this way they stack with discount codes. Your flybuys email needs to match the eBay account email otherwise you won’t be able to redeem them it will show some error.
