Need a New Dishwasher

So I went to Harvey Norman today and the sales person recommended me the following Dishwashers

AEG FFB72746PM

Miele G 4203 SC ACTIVE

I asked about the Bosch but they said they were not that great compared to the other two, looked at the

Bosch SMS66MI03A as they do not sell the Bosch SMS66MI02A

Im guessing the Bosch SMS66MI03A is only slightly different to the Bosch SMS66MI02A which was on sale a few days back but now back to original price.

The AEG comes with a 5 year warranty and the Miele & Bosch both come with 2.

The AEG was on sale @ Harvey Norman for $1299 down from $1599
The Miele has 10% off their range which brought it down to $1349.10 down from $1499.00
The Bosch was $1199 and the Bosch SMS66MI02A is $1059.00 both not on sale currently

The AEG has a feature where the door opened on its own after it had finished washing but the door itself was not as solid compared to the other two models

The Miele has the least amount of features but I tend to only use 1 or 2 features when I had my old dishwasher - Auto Mode and the hottest mode for saucepans and pots, things that needed a heavy clean

Thoughts anyone?

If you like the Bosch and the price fits your budget then just go for it.

So I went to Harvey Norman today and the sales person recommended me the following Dishwashers

This is the reason I will never buy anything for HN. The last time we went to buy a washing machine and a dryer they tried the same tactic on us. After extensive research my mind was set on a German made Bosch washing machine and their top of the line heat pump dryer but the HN salesman had nothing good to say about those. He was bold enough to claim that neither of the Bosch appliances would not last beyond two years and he tried his best to make us buy an AEG or Miele but we just walked away and got them from Appliances Online (at a very good price as they had a 20% or 15% off ebay sale then).

Just don't fall for this pathetic BS from HN. The sales guy gets the highest commission from selling fixed price items such as AEG and Miele and that is the only reason for pushing hard to sell a unit from these brands. I can't believe that they are still trying this on unsuspecting buyers as he only had his interest in mind not yours. Don't get me wrong, AEG and Miele both make solid, reliable and well received appliances but none of those qualities do matter in your case, only the highest commission.

Bosch dish washers are pretty good. They come from multiple factories which are made for different budgets and global markets. Just do your research and buy it from a retailer who would offer you the best price. I too own a Bosch dish washer and it hasn't missed a beat for the last 4 years. Also check for cashback offers direct from Bosch.

    • Thanks for that
Pity I missed out on the good guys eBay sale for the Bosch dishwasher for $850ish

I must admit the Miele and AEG have a better look as they both have a flat finish to them, where The Bosch has a bend

      Is yours quite?

    • Went Dishwasher shopping on the weekend and saw exactly this..
The Salesman trying to upsell the Miele, AEG and Ariston, heavily downselling the Bosch Series 6. Argument was that it was flimsy (I agree on this front), and was therefore noisy… Until we pointed out that the Bosch claimed 44dB, and the Miele 46dB, all of a sudden "both are quiet". He also had both… who has 2 dishwashers (one at the holiday house maybe)?

We went in with the internet telling us that Bosch Series 6 was the one to go for, came out very disappointed in the features and feel of the Bosch. It feels flimsy as, far worse than our 10 year old, $500, Samsung does even today.

Shortlist is currently Miele, ASKO and… Beko.

      • I am on the same boat now. what did you buy?

    • the Miele one price down to $999 now is it a good one to buy at this price? Thanks

  • I've had Bosch and Miele dishwashers recently. Happy with both, but preferred the Bosch, it was very quiet.

    • Was it a newer model?

  • +2

I bet the salesperson has “exactly the same one” at home.

  • If you're interested Choice magazine recently reviewed dishwashers. The review was posted online February 19th so i imagine it would come out in the March magazine .They recommended 14 dishwashers priced from $2599 down to $679.

  • at my last house I had a very basic whirlpool dishwasher -bought from master for ~$350. it was ok

my new house a direct drive LG. the LG is a far superior machine. larger internal capacity. more cycle choices. fits larger plates. has a cutlery tray.

    LG

    my parents have an asko.

it is their 2nd one in 23 years- first lasted 16 years.

  • My old dishwasher was a Samsung, wouldn’t recommend

Mighty look into the Bosch, they seem to have good reviews from users rather then sales people saying what’s good and what’s not

  • Also currently looking for a dishwasher as ours died on weekend. I'm looking at Bosch SMU46GS01A, highest rated built in one on Choice. On sale currently at appliancea online for $849,but can price match from Powerland for $839. So interested in following advice here too, thanks!

    • SMU46GS02A has a top shelf cutlery tray

      Seems better

      • Can't find that model, us that a freedtanding version? Equivalent to SMP66MX01A? Do you think top shelf cutlery more convenient?

        • Yes it’s freestanding and yes

          Good guys sell it

  • I’m soo confused with dishwashers

  • Have a look at Beko, 5 years warranty.

    • Is the brand any good?

      • Yes they are good for their price. Is any brand any good? All brands have problems and faults, it’s really just luck.

    Duplicate post.

  • i need to buy one too this weekend as that is when are kitchen is being installed so do not have luxury to wait around…. please do share which one you end up buying. I had similar experience with a sales person in binglee who was pushing for Meile product saying that it is tested to run to 20 years.
I am currently interested in https://www.appliancesonline.com.au/bosch-sms66mi02a-serie6-… but was upset to see i missed good guys sale.

    • I too am interested in that same Bosch Dishwasher

I was told on Whirlpool that the lower end Miele Dishwashers use Chinese parts ???

      • The lower end Miele dishwashers do not use Chinese parts.

  • fyi david jones is like 30$ cheaper .. it is not much but something

    • Thanks heaps

I’ll have to try get someone to price match as I wanna use my Go MasterCard to pay for it as I don’t have the $$$ atm so need to pay it off

  • +1

    good luck @Twisty

    • If you are not in a hurry then it might be worth waiting for next eBay 20% off , who knows it might come again in couple of weeks… sorry ,Comment meant for Twisty.

      • Washing dishes is getting to me and it’s been 2 weeks so far

I’d like to save $$$ but I don’t know how long I can last and if the next eBay sale will include someone who sells dishwashers

        • Fair point. I can understand. Anyway good luck in finding one.

  • Any thoughts on Bosch SMS40E08AU? HN have it for $619 atm. Cheaper than JBHifi, Appliancesonline, Good Guys, DJ's. I know it's not the German model, budget won't stretch that far unfortunately for a Series 6 or above.

Will any other big players price beat HN?

    • They would generally price match…I have never tried price beat with them. But you can negotiate with sales person and may be they will give you better deal.
I have found home appliances section in JB hi-fi quite deserted as if they are not interested in selling so may be a bit tricky to get a better deal there.
