Spam text messages from One Nation political party

Has anybody else been receiving regular spam sms messages from the One Nation party? Any idea how to stop these? I have tried replying with the words stop and unsubscribe. Have also blocked their number but it comes for a different number each time.

Ironically these messages actually decrease the chance of me voting for them - that’s some effective marketing for you.

They are allowed to send it as long as the message identifies itself as coming from a registered political party.

Unlike commercial sms messages, they are not required to provide an unsubscribe function. So unfortunately there is no way to force them to stop.

Clive Palmer sent sms messages promising if you vote for him he will change the legislation so they are not allowed to send SMS messages

It may be worth writing to the political party of your preference, or your local Member saying you are in favour of unsolicited political sms being banned.

      Clive Palmer's an idiot.

Give these mugs a thong-slap and send them on their way.

Kudos to Clive's party though for coming up with the best campaign one liner I've heard in a long time!

  • Yes, got one as well.

Somehow my number has ending up on some sort of database as I keep getting multiple calls a day from telemarketers. I block approximately 10 numbers a day. I've tried the do not call register. I have yet to come up with a solution for both political sms ads and telemarketer calls…

    • I had similar experience as well, multiple calls per day from some spammers who barely speak any English. I've installed an app called "truecaller" that helps me filter most of the spamming calls, I hope you find it useful.

But this app works best on Android, it does not work at all on iOS. I only solved my problem after switching to Android and installed the said app.

Consider yourself lucky that it's not the Clive Palmer ones.

I'll take any of those guys over LibLab any day of the week. :)

Both Liberal and Labor at state and federal level in 2011 promised to deliver an MRI unit to Port Augusta hospital. That hospital is still waiting for said unit. Doesn't matter who you vote for they are all crap

You only have a record for two major parties, why are you saying everyone else is crap?

      • +1

Because of the crap they say to try and get noticed. The biggest joke of all is how all parties are vocal against bullying in schools and the workplace, yet most times in parliment they spray such vitriol against each other that wouldn't be accepted anywhere else

Send a reply back saying one of your parents is asian and the other a muslim.

Politicians and diapers should both be changed after some time ……. for the same reason

Any idea how to stop these?

Collect the email address of all National Party members and email them a short message explaining that because their marketing team and/or trolls such as the Labour Party harrassed you via SMS you will no longer be voting for the National Party.

Explain that unless you get a personal response you will consider never voting for the National Party again given that they are SMS spammers.

    • What? You won't vote National because you were harassed by Labor?

Makes about as much sense at voting for Clive Palmer.

    • Take a deep breath and step away from the keyboard.
