Which Travel Insurance Company to Go with for 2 Month Trip?

I am travelling to Europe at the end of next week for 2 months (74 days) to go to Europe and the UK, doing both solo travel and a Contiki.

Was hoping anyone had any experience and/or recommendations for a good and cost effective travel insurance company and plan to go with, that has decent prices or deals along with a good and easy claim process.

I have researched and the best priced one appears to be BudgetDirect for around $215 for the trip, but have also seen previous recommendations for TID etc but comes to around $400 on quotes (both have a $200 excess)

I am a student, 21 years old and am travelling solo.

On the trip there will be a brief 3 day cruise, but outside of that no other extreme activities (snow sports etc).

If anyone has any advice or tips including current deals and promotions or even just a good recommendation I would gladly appreciate it.

Use this website, check which are cheapest (that obviously suit your requirements…)

Check OzB for any discounts on the top 5 cheapest quotes.

    Voila.

You really need to read the PDS to ensure that any 'gotcha's' don't apply to you. The biggest one to look out for is pre-existing conditions mainly surrounding how far back you have to declare any illnesses/conditions, some state any pre-existings ever, which is just ridiculous but who needs the headache when making a claim if there are other options out there. Also, look for reviews with claims rather than taking out policies.
If this is any help you can use the code groupon20 for 20% off insureandgo which I have heard good things about. I did a quick check based on the info you gave and it's about $250.

  • Why don’t you just use The Credit Card International Travel Insurance ? it’s free !

    • Don't own a credit card is the short answer, thanks for the help though

      • You can get credit cards with no fees and free travel insurance, like bankwest.

Might not be useful now, but for next time.

  • Kogan

  • I personally prefer to pay a little more (~$50) to have no excess. The excess applies per claim, not just once.

I’ve used Virgin Money and been happy with how their PDS covers my needs. As robbyjones has said above, you need to check the PDS to see if your concerns are covered.
