Xiaomi Pocophone F1 Dilemma

Hey folks, first time poster and I was just hoping some of you could help me gauge a couple things with a bit more clarity regarding said phone. The main concern is if anyone has experienced any noteworthy reception issues. I’m already aware it does not have band 28, though besides that how would you rate your overall experience with reception? any comparison points would be appreciated. I do understand this is a highly subjective topic as having to factor in provider and location ect.

Other than that my only other concern would be which of the grey stock sites are considered generally reliable here, it seems to vary depending on who you ask. Gearbest and Kogan seem fine from what I’ve seen, I wouldn’t know about many others though.

    No NFC as well.

This is a biggie for me.

We just need electronic drivers license and I won't need a wallet.

  • I ordered it from ebay with the 10% discount.

  • Maybe you could try another operator, like Telstra or Optus?

Other operator might get better reception in the area you live/work.

  • consider lg v30+

Had quite a few Xiaomi phones now - max 1 (global rom, grey import, gearbest), max 2 (Chinese rom- flashed global, got in China) and now the mix 3 (Chinese rom, got in China).

    All lack b28 (mix 3?).

Been with Optus most of my life (through Optus, vaya(avoid), and… I think I'm with optus again.
Reception has been great in any populated town, though country Victoria and mountain areas around brisbane I get poor reception. Though those areas I always have, regardless if what phone brand.
Telstra has always had far better coverage.

So my experience with Xiaomi phones has been perfect, though never used poco.

Also, not sure when and where b28 is used or useful.

  • Had an uncle who had a Xiaomi (i can't remember which specific model but it came out 2017) with Vodafone and he constantly complained about coverage with it in suburbia WA.

    • Voda doesn’t even use B28. So there’s no coverage difference with Xiaomi
