    Resistive touch screen…

  • Look at Dealextreme… they have a fairly good reputation and their review system can give you some idea of the opinions of other purchasers of the same device.
Personally I'd go for a nook or a Galaxy Tab.. you pay more ($250+), but you get a reliable, well constructed device that has good technical support (official and unofficial).
With many of these OEM tablets there is no support whatsoever!

Personally I'd be looking at the Optus / ZTE v9 at $149 or less. Much easier to get hold of (dick Smith, Hardly Normal, etc.), v2.2 available, more RAM, 3G, and a resistive screen that works.

    • That's a good cheap option..
I imagine these are available used too (people that are disappointed with their choice)

      • I can understand where you're coming from scubacoles; but honestly, at $149 I don't think too many will be disappointed. At the original price point however, different story! :)

I've got a SGT & having compared to two, I like my GT but I could live with a ZTE if necessary! ;)

  • What do you guys use your tablets for? I know the majority of people who have iPads and SGT's use them primarily for gaming

I've been toying with the idea of using a tablet as a student aid (loading up PDF files and lecture slides to use them in class) but all the ones with high res screens are prohibitively expensive.

    • I bought the SGT purely as a toy, I use it for gaming, videos, web, and occasionally as GPS.

The resolution is good enough 1024x600.

I don't have any regrets about buying it other than I wish it was $300 when I bought it, as opposed to $330 on staff discount.

I would have a play with each device your considering.

No matter how cheap it is if you get frustrated using it, you will give eventually give up (which is why I commented about the resistive touch).

  • zt-180 about US$125 at aliexpress.
    1Ghz
    10inch screen

    seems very reasonable.

get the "leather" case (includes keyboard) for $15.
