The Cheapest Way to Buy Apple Items?

I have purchased many Apple items from Myer of the last few years. I was able to get a discount from Myer where the Apple Store would not. Also, I purchased Myer gift vouchers & saved 5% - 10% ~ which is significant when the items are so expensive. Now that Myer have announced that they are no longer going to sell Apple item I need to look elsewhere.

Going forward I'm now wondering where the cheapest place to buy Apple items from might be … JB HiFI, Good Guys, Officeworks?

Through my Health Insurance (Wellplan) I can get 5% discounted gift cards at JB Hi Fi and Good Guys.

Any other suggestions for getting the cheapest price?

Might be a bit off topic but you overpay no matter where you purchase them from.

Get them at 50% off and you overpaid.

You are paying for the brand, for the marketing, for the fact that you think that product is the best. An actual iPhone costs less than $200 to make.

It seems you haven't made peace with that. I suggest might be worthwhile looking at different brands.

    TL;DR: move to other brands.

Thanks for your reply, but Apple is my brand of choice. And, as an Ozbargainer I want to get the best price I can.

    • Lots of downvotes but a valid response. Apple is overpriced and leave nothing for the retailers. They got caught out stealing from their own customers with battery gate

  • Suncorp have 8% discount for good guys I believe.

  • Price match, use discounted cards, TRS

  • If you are studying or have kids that are studying, Apple do do student discounts.

  • I thought everybody bought apple products second hand? Or on a plan so they could claim it as a business expense? Apart from that waiting for sales on ozbargain is the way to go

Anywhere they sell them pretty much (officeworks, JB, DJ, etc.). Apple tends to give the retailers fairly tight margins so most of them (I assume) wouldn't give any 'exceptional discounts', and are more unwilling to negotiate on the price than other brands. I know that apple gives students 10% with free beats, not sure if that lasts the whole year though. Otherwise, sometimes JB and others would give a little discount, but you just got to look out for them

  • Refurbished off their website is a good way to go.

Otherwise; corporate discount, student discount or buying it off Kogan or something (i.e. grey import).

  • Depends on how committed you are to “buying” the product

@tardis3. You say apple is your choice which is your choice. Does stuff like the battery issue not bother you? They got caught plain and simple slowing their phones down to help encourage people to upgrade. This is quite simply stealing from their own customers. Does that not bother you?

I haven't had any issues with the battery on any of my Apple devices

Yes, but this company did get caught slowing people's devices down in order to get them to upgrade. Basically stealing from their own customers. So it doesn't bother you just because it didn't happen to be the devices you own?

Not that it got much publicity, but Samsung did the same thing with the Samsung Galaxy Note 4. Samsung was fined €5m. Samsung told owners of its Galaxy Note 4 phone to install a new version of Google’s Android operating system intended for the more recent Galaxy Note 7, but which users claimed rendered the old model sluggish. And then they'res the Samsung exploding phones.

@tardis3: So you're ok with being stolen from because Samsung do it too? Apple users always seem to think Samsung is the only other manufacturer of phones.

@tardis3: And the exploding phone is always brought up. It was 1 phone out of all the android manufacturers and they very quickly recalled them all and even took the phone off the market.

          • @tardis3: Funny, no replies from apple fanboys but plenty of downvotes. It's like saying "damnit I see your point, I've got no response but I'm not happy"
