      Yeah….I put one of the light strips in my son's room recently (which is excellent on his bedhead), now I'm seeing all sorts of places around the house that we could use them. She said no more Hue, but I'm sure my wife would love it once she sees them, right?

          Well…the strip in my son's room is on his bedhead…I cut the strip in half, and cannibalised and old IDE hard drive ribbon cable to extend it such that I could have half stuck on the underside of the top board of his bedhead (facing downwards), and the other half behind the bedhead illuminating the wall. Ok…so it's a bit of effort, but the cabling is difficult to spot, and it's a beautiful effect. Probably took me about half an hour though, so that's not bad.

          So really, I would only be using it in places such that I can hide any cables anyway (power unit is stuck behind the bedhead and plugged in beneath the bed). I would do the same behind our television unit in the lounge area, or behind the monitors in my office. From memory, the power unit is outputting 24v, and I expect that the brain includes LED drivers to regulate and 'pulse' the current to the LED's.

          Of course…there's plenty of images online of them set up under kitchen cabinets or behind wall mounted screens…really, you're going to need a sparky to add a point for you in many situations. The strip itself is pretty ugly, and cabling is too, so you do want to hide them, for sure. There is a company that makes various adaptors and extension accessories for Hue, in case you don't feel like splitting and soldering old IDE cables yourself :o) https://www.amazon.com.au/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alia…

    Seems cheaper to buy separate than kit. Eg 2 X white @$13.90 each + hub $38 is $65.8, kit is $75. That or the bulbs different.

      There are different white bulbs. The "White" and the "White Ambiance" I just use the cheapest white personally.

      You can extend the light strips up to 10m, but you'll need the 2m kit to kick it off (has the power supply and brain is in it). You could go beyond 10m I guess, but presumably that would exceed the current capability of the power supply and you might kill it - that or the resistance over the run of 10m of copper ribbon attenuates the power too much to run any more.

      Dunno about the downlight thing.

    For those looking to price beat at Bunnings, just be aware that as soon as they find out about the Amazon sale, they'll change the price in store to be 10 cents cheaper (the price online won't change, instead they'll just put a temporary ticket over the item).

    You'll still get a cheaper deal and able to buy it today, but you won't get to "beat it by 10%" unless you're the first person to price match in that store.

        If they are alerted to it, then yes they'll change it. But it means it's now cheaper than Amazon so you should still go past Bunnings to get it.

      Their response speed makes me think it might be an automated task, at least when the price difference is big. I have priced beaten a roof ventilator which brought down the price by about $70, by the time I load the ventilator in my car their website is already showing a lower price. It only went back after a couple of days.

    I went to Robina Bunnings in Gold Coast, instead of price tags was showing original price, at the counter price was changed to Amazon's. So probably they adjusted prices for all stores.

    I'm having an argument with Amazon.com.au at the moment, trying to gaslight me into thinking items don't apply.

    The Philips Hue Muscari Ceiling Light was advertised at $249, down from $359. It was in the Philips Hue discount items promotion page.

    This morning at 2am I added it to my shopping list where it still sits at $249. I go to add it to my cart now at 2pm, it's $359.

    The customer support agent insists it's not part of the promotion when literally all the evidence I have shows otherwise.

    Prices seem to be going back up already. Ducked home at lunch to check what mount my laundry and bathroom needed and got back to find the motion sensors have jumped back up. I ordered the two white bulbs i needed for those two rooms, but will skip on the motion sensor until it comes down again next time. I wanted a motion sensor for both those rooms for the obvious reason. Our laundry is also where we enter the house from the carport so would be nice to automatically turn on when we walk in from the cars.

      Yep. Paid $26.90 for B22 ambiance globes an hour or two ago and now they are $39.

      The three pack white and colour starter kit is still a great price. The bulbs usually run $70-80 each so 3 for $139 + the bridge is excellent.

      Yes i was going to grab a couple more motion sensors too but they are gone.

      I have them in the laundry and bathroom also, just note in the bathroom they may not detect motion through the glass shower screen if you have one. Doesn't make you popular with your significant other if the lights go out in the middle of their shower. :)

    If there is something you really want, keep checking. The products keep coming and going from the sale section and the prices are flopping all over the place too. I managed to swoop on a sensor for $37.90 after I missed it this morning and it disappeared, then it came back at $55, the price dropped, it disappeared again and now seems to be back at $55

    NFI what is going on. Maybe trying to make it hard for the price beaters?
