Strong indoor digital TV antenna

Hello.
I have been given an old AWA digital TV as l moved and didn't have one. The place l have moved to does not have a TV antenna on the roof.
My indoor antenna is for digital TV but it has the old fashioned rabbit ears with an oval thing that turns around.
I have been playing with it all day but l can't get channel 7 and channel 9 breaks up.
Can someone please recommend a strong indoor digital antenna to buy to get channel 7. I live in Cheltenham, Victoria
Thank you in advance.
Cheers,
Nettie

This should do it but it requires mains power

    • Do those things actually work?

      • No. I tried lots of them and they were mostly rubbish. At Dick Smith most of the ones on the shelf had been returned and resealed.

      • Worked for me

  • I need one for myself! The current house I live in has a tv out on the other side of the room and I can't run a wire as it would be a pain.

  • Don't need powered, don't need high-gain or some shit. Have done this before

Just standard bunny-rabbits, set up opposite to each other, like this:

In a straight line. Put it up as high as you can, and out of the way. Top of cupboard for example

Thank you so much. I found some old bunny ears and they work a treat!

      • Awesome :)

It's surprising, because the stores are like "use this ultra high powered antenna it's the only way" and cheap shitty bunny rabbits do the job!

  • I just set up the TV today (moved in yesterday) and l jut put the blind down and
I lost channel 9 now too! Haahaa

    • If you have a smart tv I guess you could use the FV app for now, if you want to watch live tv.

  • It is not a smart TV :(

  • I had the same problem. After dismantling the old fashioned rabbit ears with an oval thing I found it's connected internally directly to the coax cable, so I installed a balun from Bunnings onto the cable which gave me perfect reception on all digital channels.

  • Use a balun with 2 15cm pieces of aluminium wire. Do not use a cable (signal loss), just plug it straight in.

    • Please see my reply below

  • I looked on the Bunnings website and saw what you were talking about. Do you mean l plug that little black thing straight into the back of the TV after l have wound a piece of wire onto the two screws under the bit you plug in?

  • I built my own, and works a treat. Way better signal than the store bought one it replaced (which required power).

  • Get foxtel.

  • I cant afford foxtel

  • Cheltenham is in a good reception area, you can check this in below link by typing your address, if you have trees, buildings, or metal objects like TV or a few wall's next to your antenna, you would not receive a good signal.

Make sure the indoor antenna is as close as possible and towards the TV antenna transmitter antenna in Dandenong, also try moving the antenna as high as possible or near a window

I have an Indoor antenna with amplifier and stay in Abbotsford area, so when ever I watch Channel 7 and 10, I need to turn off the amplifier, and for other channels turn on the amplifier. So if your indoor antenna has a amplifier try adjusting it for Channel 7

If it still doesn't work, dont waste your money on indoor antennas. In your area if you can find a cheap outdoor antenna and install it outside (doesnt have to be on the roof) you will get a good signal.
