Extreme Difficulty in Porting of Mobile Number to Boost

Hi all,

I have been trying to port my number from ALDI to boost and it has been a nightmare.

I started the porting process on Friday last week and it has still not been completed. Telstra is stating that port cannot happen due to the error that 'my number does not exist' and ALDI is saying that everything is correct from their end.

The issue has been escalated but with ALDI's system of e-support tickets, its taking longer than expected (more 48 business hours).

It has been excruciatingly difficult to deal with both the Telco's. Any ideas how to go about porting my number to Boost now? I now feel that my number can never be ported.

Many thanks!

Are you sure there wasn't a typo in your number by someone somewhere along the line?

    • No. If that was the case, then the error would be - 'incorrect details like DOB or name etc'. Hasn't been the case

I don't know if this is the reason right now, but used to be a massive issue porting between ones like that, the issue is they're all Telstra so it wasn't a simple port. A lot of people at the time used to port out (to optus for example) then port back in (to boost/telstra etc).

Did you contact aldi before you contacted boost about the switch?

    • No I did not contact ALDI.

I was actually thinking of porting to Optus if the issue was not resolved by today.

    Go straight to TIO. https://www.tio.com.au

It will be resolved quickly once it's escalated properly

  • LOL, i tried porting from Aldi to Telstra, said they will port it in 24 to 48 hours, its been 6 months now.

as a rule try to avoid going from within the same carrier.. always port out to another carrier also best to wait a day between transactions

    • I might do it today. Just port to Optus and then port to Telstra

  • Update: My porting got rejected from ALDI to Telstra. So will have to go ALDI -> Optus -> Telstra way.

I have already complained to the TIO but I don't have the faith that they will be able to resolve this.

  • I ported from catch connect (optus) to boost a couple of weeks ago and it took 5 days to activate (5 days with no service - could only receive incoming calls and texts). They immediately ported my number from catch and then had a "technical issue" from their end. The time frame started at 24 hours and it kept getting extended every time I called.. amongst all the lies and one person even blaming catch. Ended up complaining to tio and telstra/boost have now admitted they activated my service as a Telstra service not a boost service which caused all the issues. I demanded 40gb to compensate for not having a phone for 5 days and they honoured it. I have a feeling this might be a common occurrence!

    • In this case, they are telling me my number does not even exist. I gave up after calling for 2 hours every day.

The call centre of Telstra is in India and they are just hopeless.

      • Cannot agree more. Best to deal with the TIO and the Telstra team that handles the TIO complaints.

  • I know this doesn't help much - but I just ported from TPG to Boost - I did it via their Chat window (as my address was not being found in the gui) - and the porting literally took less than 5 minutes.

  • i tried porting to Optus and they are having the same issue that Telstra had (my number does not exist). What do i do now? Is it still possible to port?

    • you already started a port you are in limbo. You cant unring that bell. Best to know for future thats all

  • Don't bother bloke I tried porting from Optus to boost about 2 years ago nothing but a nightmare. I gave up and went with ALDI best thing ive done

  • Mine transfered from optus to boost in less than an hour last sunday.

  • Transferred within hours on an early Sunday morning here from Aldi to Boost. No problems.

  • In my case I am trying to port in from Lycambile to Boost mobile and after requesting I lost my connection from Boost instantly and didn't get connected to Boost! This is one of the rare issue as per Boost team and they have put me in nowhere situation. I am currently having no network in my mobile and they said it could take upto 48 hours to resolve this.
