Is there a way to share a family plan on Apple Music the same way you can on google music and Spotify?

If so I’m looking to join a family account, happy to pay 1yr in advance.

Yep! You can sign up as a Apple Family with up to 6 people and it is 17.99 per month.

Works out to be cheaper than the student pricing at 2.99 a month per person!

  They will have to legally adopt you for that. You will also have access to their Apple funds (unless they set you up as a child) and iTunes and App library.

Yep, doing that will give them access to see your location and wipe your device in "Find my iPhone". Completely different to sharing a Spotify account.
