Places to Get a Cheap Steel or Glass Water Bottle?

Several years back I got a Cheeki 1L stainless steel bottle in dark blue…it was pretty much perfect, but recently, water in the bottle has been going foul within an hour and no amount of washing with baking soda, white vinegar, soap, etc, has solved the problem. Im guessing the lining has deterioated or something.

It was the old style bottles and I got it on sale for $15 or less I believe. Unfortunately, the new Cheeki bottles seem to be in the $30-40 range which is quite crazy for a water bottle.

Does anyone know of a place to get a 1L steel or glass water bottle for $15 or less? Most of the supermarkets and stores that I have checked only sell colorful plastic "sports" bottles or are way too expensive like the new Cheeki bottles. I'm looking for a simple one like this, preferably in blue : https://www.amazon.com.au/Timolino-8030-50-34-Ounce-Classic-…

Note the ridiculous shipping cost for the Amazon AU listing above. I thought the whole point of Amazon AU was to have items stored in AU warehouses, to avoid the overseas shipping costs on Amazon US?

  • Miniso have glass with silicone outer coating under $10 for smaller ones. Not sure if they have larger sizes.

  • We got a couple of these a few months back for $19 if you can stretch it?

Voss water bottles from Coles or Woolworths. Really nice glass bottles. Work well in the fridge. Cost about $5. Find them in your bottled water section…

    • And regularly on sale.

  • washing with baking soda, white vinegar, soap

Don't clean stainless with any of these. Especially not vinegar as it can in encourage rusting.

Soak with sodium percarbonate or unscented Coles napisan clone diluted with warm ~60-70c water (never boiling). Rinse with boiling water.

I'm a homebrewer, I clean a loooot of stainless steel.

If silicone seal is removable then soak in boiling water separately.

If you still think the water is 'off' then buy a VOSS bottle mentioned above.

    • and keep a small piece of coal/charred wood in it to keep it smelling fresh
