Wtk - Suit Prices in Vietnam

Odd one…
We are heading over to Vietnam in October and I was thinking of getting a suit made. Anyone know what the going rate is? I know they all differ and the fabric etc.. but what sort of price range should I be looking at?

Cheers

  • It will be totally dependant on the material you choose, and the tailor / retailer that you are buying from.
I would suggest not scrimping on either, and if you can't find both to your liking don't bother. If you aren't prepared to wear it when back home, it is a waste of money.

I didn't get any suits made, but did have quite a few business shirts made in Hoi An. I chose good quality fabrics, and all lasted very well. We even had a look around the on-premises work area where the shirt-makers made some alterations to the first shirt before replicating for the remainder.

    • Shirts are decent, not extremely cheap for well made ones, but notably cheaper.

I wouldn't bother with their suits there. The bespoke suits made there aren't to our standard or preferred cut. It usually comes out a horrible mess.

For cheaper (again, not extremely cheap for good stuff) suits, go to Hong Kong or Shanghai. Spain is good too but more disappointments than the former.

  • Hoi An you can get a decent quality tailor suit for about $80 - $110. (They will normally advertise for about $200 AUD and you will need to bargain) They can replica pretty good too if you show them a sample. In Ho Chi Minh there a a few low key but good ones too but you would need locals to direct you.

    • +1

      for about $80 - $110

That seems pretty low. What material did you get? A few years ago in Hoi An I picked up a few 100% wool suits for around $200 AUD each.

  • Prices can vary quite a bit, as can the quality

I got 3 pure wool 2 trouser suits for 1000 US ( exchange rate was about parity at the time) At the pricier end but the tailor I went to did a full stitch and glue jacket.
You have to book 2 fittings about 4 days apart and then they will post them to you

They have been going strong for 4 years being worn 1-2 times a week for work

    Tailor was this one

    Dung Tailor

221 Lê Thánh Tôn, Phường Bến Thành, Quận 1, Hồ Chí Minh, Vietnam https://g.co/kgs/Lwzp9g

If you want something for a one off or occasion wear you can definitely get cheaper.

I agree with above. Shirts aren't worth it, you are better off working out your sleeve length and best fit and hitting up the TM lewin or tywitt deals

  • Thanks for the comments. I'll see what they are like when get there
