Cheapest Travel Insurance for Japan?

Hi.. We are going to Japan for a couple of weeks. Which is the cheapest travel insurance that you would recommend? We have a young kid as well so family cover may suit too.

Just curious - does our medicare work in Japan (in case both countries have any treaty)?

    I used World2Cover when I went.

  • I used tick insurance for my trip earlier this year.

    7% from cashrewards

Also plenty of 10,15,20% off codes on ozbargain. Even the expired ones usually still work.

Australia does not have reciprocal health care with Japan, to answer your other question.

TID is usually pretty competitive https://www.travelinsurancedirect.com.au/

The cheapest policy may not be the best policy. Check the PDS.

The free one with my CBA credit card seems to tick all the boxes

  • Not sure about cheap but I used southern cross travel insurance

And we had a lost bag and they were really good claims wise!

  • I just got TID, quite cheap and comprehensive, coverage via Lloyds. Lots of discount codes.

    • Now underwritten by XL Insurance Company SE (AXA) ?

  • Found this to be cheap last trip.

Has a good level of cover and some reasonable reviews

  • Not sure about cheap but a quick Google shows World2Cover, which is somehow connected to a company in Japan? It also says on the homepage that dependents under 25 go free, but I didn't really dig to see if there are any additional conditions.

Following the thread because we intend to go to Japan too, although not soon.

  • Which insurance did you end up picking OP?
