Trace Cargo Core Black (NOW SOLD OUT)

Description:

At first glance, the adidas POD-S3.1 looks like the result of an alternative universe of running shoes. And no blame could be accused, for there are certainly elements of heritage running and clean German efficiency. The “podular” BOOST heel unit makes a lot of sense, as it takes the most impact. Torsional rigidity is maintained with an oversized plastic shank that also wraps up the arch. Up top, things are relatively traditional by contemporary standards, with a mesh upper and welded stripes. A change from the norm is the use of taping for eyelet support, bringing about somewhat of a deconstructed look that is all the rage.
+ Mesh Upper

Would this be good for sports, e.g. badminton?

    • -3

Yes perfect for Badminton. The mesh upper provides plenty of support, while the BOOST Podular heel returns limitless energy return for superior performance.

Thanks drezy, that's good to know.
Someone told me running shoes aren't good for sport as the heels are lifted and therefore designed to push you forward.

        • They were right. If you're liable to be stopping and starting in all directions, running shoes aren't the way to go. Running shoes are generally focused towards a straight heel-toe movement.

For badminton I'd be thinking you're after lightweight, thinner-soled shoes with minimal ankle support (ankle support is generally only supporting heel-toe movement). The sole material's going to be determined by the court rules, but as much cushioning and shock absorption in as little sole as possible would be the ratio to aim for. After that comes the usual ventilation/comfort factors that apply to any shoe you'll be working up a sweat in.

      • They don't return limitless energy.

in my opinion, these kinds (running shoes) of shoes are really bad for badminton, from my experience, the upper is so soft that you can't keep your feet firmly at the bottom of the shoe, you will get hurt! get a pair of proper badminton shoes, they have a wider base, harder upper to hold your feet and also better sole so you don't slip on the court.

      • indeed, the sole is too thick and kinda soft cause twisting ankle, especially bad for badminton required rapidly change direction

No they are not. If you are playing badminton in a proper synthetic or wooden indoor Court then you need a proper indoor shoe. This Adidas shoe is more of a fashion sneaker.

    • Personally I wouldn't use this for badminton as the upper mesh doesn't have really good lock down for your foot, you foot move around in the shoes (It might create blister if you have a lot of sudden stop in the sport.). I don't even use POD for running as my pureboost and ultraboost are way better than POD. I mainly use POD for casual wear.

Hi Drezy, you need to stop buying shoes mate, haha

    • Who said I bought these ;P
Just sharing for the lovely Ozbargain community :)

  • how can I swap the size?

  • Got these from the Adidas store and was playing some social badminton. Had wore them around 10 times. I made a quick step and the white cushioning under the heel ripped off. Would just stick to casual running or gym for these.

  • "available in two colourways"

    ???

  • The foam trim gets filthy real quick. So better suited to indoor usage.
