Dyson V11 Absolute Pro > Would You Buy at 25% off or Wait for a Price Drop?

I am in the market for a new Dyson handstick, and noticed that the V11 model has been released very recently.
https://shop.dyson.com.au/vacuum-cleaners/handstick/dyson-v1…

RRP = $1,249.00 for the Absolute Pro

That is an astounding price for a handstick vacuum cleaner. I guess Dyson is taking a page out of Apple's book in pricing and naming of these handstick models.

It just so happens that I have a limited time voucher which grants me 25% off the RRP, bringing the price down to $936.75 + free shipping.

Is this a good bargain or should I wait another couple of months for a better price through eBay?

  • Without trying to troll post like those on $2,000 mobile phone posts, but what is the appeal for a $1,000+ vacuum cleaner? Is there a certain case use where this makes sense or is it more of a nice to have with functionality? For large houses maybe? Just curious what I'm missing…

But to answer your question, your offer certainly seems the cheapest by far on other posts here/Amazon etc.

    • My Dyson V8 is going to be a hand me down to a family member. I was planning on buying the V10, but I see that V11 is now the latest version.
What would you recommend as a reasonable competitor to the V11 without the exorbitant price tag?

      • What's wrong with the V8? Why you upgrading?

        • +1

I have a V8 and a v10 and while the V8 is still working ok, the suction power of the v10 was so much improved.

    • i guess it's the best cordless (suction + battery life) you can get and the best always commands a premium which cannot be justified

Wait til the V16 Absolute Pro Black Limited Launch Insane Founders Edition

It will probably have two screens. One to tell you the battery status, the other to tell you the status of the first screen.

    • With internet access so you can manage it remotely.

      • +1

Yes, you'll be able to change the RGB lighting in the dust chamber via WiFi.

  • The Absolute Pro is a DYSON-only exclusive so I don't think the stores will have it… 25% off is a pretty good deal if you were going to get a V11 anyhow. Also they have 45-day returns so what's to lose…

  • How’d you get the 25% voucher?

    • Limited time promotion via the Dyson Corporate program, which a work colleague of mine has access to.

    • +1

If you have an old Dyson that is no longer sold, if you call up their customer service and tell them you want to upgrade to a new model, they'll give you a 25% off code

  • Lets get real, this is a Vacuum cleaner. I own a Dyson and a Xiaomi robot vacuum, but there's no way in hell I'll spend $1k on a vacuum cleaner.

    • Agreed. Over priced and over hyped.
Well, I am in the market for a new handstick vacuum cleaner. So, what would you recommend as a competitor to the V11 with reasonable performance, and good value for money?

      • +1

I might consider a V10 when it drops below $500

I think you'll find that vouchers will not work for the v11, the newest model never gets discounted and any kind of voucher / code not be accepted at checkout, even if you have a retired machine..

    • +2

      Corporate discount vouchers work.

      • -1

No it will not work on new machines, my wife works for dyson, and NO ONE can get discounts on the new machines

        • -1

          Yes they will.

            • @Retchey: Not trying to be a jerk, but I got through my corporate dyson discount today, an email for mother's for 25% off all dyson products. And it specifically mentions the v11 is available at the discounted rate.

Is her name Carmen? I just talked to her and she pointed out there are different corporate programs. However, it also should be pointed out that Carmen Sandiago has now been found and is working at Dyson.

  • I'm waiting for 50% off plus the bonus accessories :)

  • The answer ought to be simple. Buy now with a credit card that has purchase protection. Claim price cut later.

But also think long and hard if you actually need the V11 absolute it if you can get by with a lower model. The difference is usually a single tool and change of colour.

Also look into whether a V10 or V8 will suffice since they can be had for much cheaper. V11 is better but not great value for money.

Compared to V10 it has longer battery life and greater suction. The auto power adjust is far from essential. Just manually adjust it yourself. Not hard.

That model is exclusive to Dyson's website so you won't find a better offer. For the Absolute model which is sold third party, you would rarely see 25%, at least for the first year anyway. Some old models can go on sale for 30+% but not the V10 that I've seen. I would say the best you'd see this year for a V11 Absolute is probably $950ish when a 20% sale appears. So yes, the Absolute Pro for less than that is definitely a good deal.

Feel free to send me that code if you don't use it though. ;P

I think it's a good deal. I rarely saw the v10 lower than 20% off up until now. It'll be a year or two before the v11 gets discounted down by 25%.

I have a corporate discount for 25%, best to double check because it only worked on v11 absolute but not v11 absolute Pro

    • Yes, that is right. The V11 Absolute Pro is an excluded item for the Dyson Corporate Program.
However, V11 Absolute is just as good (only missing three extra tools in comparison to the Pro model).
