    Tips

+Sleep on it first(no seriously though lay on it, people do it so don't feel embarrassed) as each mattress has a softness factor
    +The stability of the frame
+Measure out the area you want to place the bed at and make sure the new bed fits it

Just don't be cheap and buy something that isn't the most comfy thing you can find. Your going to spend a third of your life in it so you might as well get something good.

Also make sure you get a "quiet" frame, my housemate made this mistake and it wasn't particularly fun for me…

If you can afford it try out the 'gel' topped ones…they've even got some entry level models now at just over the $1k mark for DB/QB IIRC. Damn they're a nice sleep. :)

If you're sharing it, try to go for pocket spring too…that way when your partner moves about, you don't! ;)

Oh, and when it comes to price, negotiate hard…I had a mate that worked for Snooze, he said the profit margins are huge; so they can afford to trim that down a bit!

  • Thanks guys

Get a new girlfriend - then share hers.

Apart from that Stewballs advice on negotiation is key. When they can regularly offer 40% off sales, he's right about the margins. And he's bedridden at the moment (flu) so he should know about beds….

      • he's bedridden at the moment (flu) so he should know about beds….

        …and couches too! ;)

Couldn't have been a better time for that Woolies special on the good Kleenex Aloe Vera & Eucalyptus…I really owe the OP on that one big time, I've already got a good dent in my 10 boxes! :D

I don't think this meets the low-cost spirit of OzBargain.
Sharing a bed can be the most expensive thing you ever do. Even more than having kids.
        (Just ask Rupert Murdoch.)

        • My ex-girlfriend shared a bed with her sister…
          So i don't think that'll work

          But you did say

Get a new girlfriend - then share hers.

          I'll try it soon :D
