Cheapest Way to Have NBN Installed?

Hi all,

Does anyone have a tip on the cheapest way to arrange NBN installation.

I have just built three new investment properties I am keeping but I am looking to have the external and internal boxes installed prior to having them leased so that I can ensure they are in the correct position and I am not leaving it for a tenant to arrange.

Has anyone got the scoop on the cheapest provider to have a one month contract with as little money down as possible just so I can get the equipment in?

Cheers.

    • thanks for the quick reply, I know the process of getting it installed, I am just wondering about which is the cheapest provider.

      • i would steer clear of the cheapest

    Try Kogan, was decent. https://www.koganinternet.com.au/plans/

Silver plan for free modem, I wasn't charged any installation fee.

  • Easy done. Install one service only and purchase an unlimited 100mb plan - get your sparky to wire it up to all three properties. You can recover the cost in the same way you will recover the water charges to your tenants

    • Water consumption charges are passed on to tenants (generally). Is the suggestion to somehow meter each unit for internet use, and charge accordingly?

      • I once had a unit in a block of just a few such units.

Landlord had (old but believable) meters, 1 / unit.

Landlord lived on-site, & wanted to be a Mensch
by: Minimizing total cost of renting there

He'd charge each tenant for power used, period.
(No: he -didn't- even split the "service-fee")

OK, so the units were a bit less than up-market, &
this was Before the Market Competition hoo-haw
added huge distribution fess to our (here: his)
        bill. I was a student.

Now, "everyone's" hungry to charge "what the market
will bear" …rather than enjoying a more generous,
        neighborly mindset & tradition.

(In fairness, tenants were happy to look after
his fish-farming tanks, eg, when they were off
        on a holiday trip.)

PS He was selective in choice of new tenants.
His home was easily accessed by tenants, and
he wanted to keep them happy enough Not to
        break-in, ransack their home & run-off.

It may be a special case… but it was good…
with calming trees, some farm animals, fresh
eggs, & a few dogs that protected all of our
homes from any passing burglars, etc.

Oh, and there was a Bush Fire risk, there,
        most summers.

PS So, I was a student, at the time… Great
place to study, breathe & live, for sure!

  • Dig a trench (or 3) from the wall where you want the PCD at a 350mm depth of cover to the property boundary. Lay 20mm telco conduits with no more than 1 sweep bend. Glue the joints, tape the ends and cover. Sign up with an RSP and wait for them to do the rest.

Ok, I was bored enough to check up several sites.

Assuming you're not looking for those satellite plans, the cheapest I could find is $44.95 at Spintel.

    • I have heard they have a $75 signup fee?

      • Might be different once you put in your address, but their nbn page shows no setup fee for month to month contract.
