2100

Hi All,

Long time fan and first time post :)

A Microsoft trainer pointed me to these great OFFICIAL Microsoft e-learning and training sites.

One is delivered via EDX -> https://www.edx.org/course?search_query=azure&school=Microso…
The other is delivered via Microsoft Learn -> https://docs.microsoft.com/en-au/learn/

Very structured and professional unlike other free training out there.

Free to learn.
Only pay to certify.
Click through for more details.

Enjoy!

Thanks d-fxt for sharing this . Great resources and courses .

I've found edx to be excellent before they went to the paid model.

The few courses I've tried recently is restricted to a time window of 2-4 weeks and you lose access after the course is over. Not sure if theses ones have the same issue?

eDx tried the "Verified" income model but that failed, particularly after they have upped the antes with $100+ per course (I actually paid for a couple @$50).
After that they moved to "force" you into paying verification to have access to lab work, tests, exercises.
I foresee that it will also fail.

  • Great stuff. Really quite helpful.

  • Have been labouring at these for a while now.
If you have a premium LinkedIn account their training is very good as well.

If you live in Queensland you can access all Lynda.com (LinkedIn provider) courses for free. https://www.slq.qld.gov.au/research-collections/information-…

      • AWESOME! Will try that RIGHT NOW!
        My linkedIn premium expired yesterday…

Worked perfectly, I am so pleased!

        Many thanks!

      • Same with a NSW library card. I use it on a daily basis at my work.

        • Is this any library card or a specific library?

      • Can we get certificates and show em off on LinkedIn?

        • I confirmed that we can do this

  • Anyone have tried working in IoT / AI company/business? what are the requirements?

  • Thank you.

Are these courses appropriate for someone who has zero knowledge and would like to attain some?

    • same question here!

    • There is quite a large number to choose from.
There are 3 levels so there is something for everyone.
However the Azure courses do require some basic network and general IT knowledge…

      • What would you recommend? I'm currently taking a python course on udemy

Been doing the azure fundamentals modules in Microsoft Learn… Very impressive and interactive too

  • good

  • You can get free access to lynda courses if you sign up for Perth city library as well..

If you don't know python you might as well be illiterate

      you snake….

Thanks OP, going to take a stab at the IoT course with one the Raspberry Pis I picked up from an Ozbargain deal last year

  • What does it mean free? Does it give the certificate? Or just auditing?

    • +1

Industry certificates are issued by other authorities, not lynda.com, eDx.org or Microsoft Learn.
Most courses are to improve and consolidate your knowledge on the specific subject.
Some courses are also recommended as preparation for industry certification exams (eg Microsoft certifications)

Auditing the courses @lynda.com is free via the library membership method. If you go DIRECT to lynda.com those courses cost.
The courses at Microsoft learn ar free to audit (some have interactive activities).
Most courses @eDx.org are free (and of a wide variety!) to audit BUT certificates of completion and access to interactive activities cost.

      • Thanks for all your explanations. But what is different about this bargain? Certificate for free?

  • Good stuff. Thank you so much!

Any idea which platform is better? EDX or Microsoft Learn?

There's actually a bunch of truly free courses on Pluralsight for Azure stuff. To access:
    1. Visit this page: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/learn/
    2. in the "Additional Azure training" box click on "Free Pluralsight courses"
    3. Follow prompts.

Must follow above steps to get them for free.

    Enjoy :)
