7-Eleven Iced Coffee Hack

Was at 7-Eleven recently. The regular price for their iced coffee cup is $2…

Hence? One short black shot. Hold down 'cold milk', hold it down again. Stir…

Slightly different iced coffee for $1! Why pay another $1 just for some ice? I swear you get more this way on a pure dollar value.

    Because it’s not iced?

    • +2

Just put it in the freezer and come back later.

      • Tomorrow even. Those suckers at 7-11 must be chompin' at the bit to shutdown this sieve.

  • Would not recommend this

Spoil yourself and spend the extra $1.. geez

I must be on the wrong site.

      • There's a difference in spending an extra $1 on a coffee, vs saving $100 on a Nintendo switch

Assuming one iced coffee per weekday, five weekdays per week, and 48 weeks per year (this should make everyone who equates "weekday" to "workday" happy), that's roughly a $240/yr savings.

I'm all about the big wins, but I'm also about the smaller wins that keep accumulating on autopilot.

@josetann: You can save even more if you don't buy the iced coffee everyday at all.

            • +1

@adam: That's how I can afford all the Nintendo Switch deals.

          • +1

@josetann: Agree. Governments typically forecast policy savings out to 10 years +. I'm actually seeing modelling that this particular hack save you two days on an interest only home loan (30 years).

    Winter is coming.

Why are you posting a "hack" on iced coffee?

    • +2

Brilliant if you ask me. I tried smuggling a pocket of ice to put in my 7-11 coffee during summer, looked like I'd peed myself.

  • +1

I just use my cold dead heart to cool it down.

Ahh… 'The Dutton'. A coffee prepared by your au pair.

    7-Eleven Iced Coffee Hack

Cool… OH wait, its not iced coffee, its just cold coffee.

  • +3

I think everyone is forgetting the fact that… how much do people pay for cold milk with coffee in a bottle elsewhere? At least this way I can get a reasonable quantity cheap vs having to guzzle 600ml

  • Why pay another $1 just for some ice?

..because I wanted an iced coffee?

  • +2

I admittedly did this a few times before they bought out their iced coffee and it was hot so I didn't want a hot drink, but it's more of a lukewarm coffee. Paying the extra $1 for the ice (and I think a bigger cup) is worth it IMHO.

  • +2

I apologise half-arsed if I offended anyone… it costs me 65c a serve for a glass of milk with some coffee in it at home. I am also the kind of person who will GLADLY not pay the extra dollar considering it is a savings ratio of 50%. That's a pretty good ROI (or an extra cup).

Also… the official word (I can get the post if you want) is that you can double shot or even triple shot your coffee for no extra cost.

  • Great post OP on "How to throw $1 down the drain and drink some wtf iced coffee substitute".

  • I stopped drinking 7 Eleben ice coffee when I tried Woolworths Barista Bros Double Espresso. It's really good. 700ml is at the moment special at $2.95.

    • +3

Barista Bros is UHT milk and every time I've tried it, doesn't come close to the fresh milk equivalent

      • Yep, its just long life crap from Coca Cola. I only drink it in extreme circumstances

    • Every time (2-3) I have had Barista Bros iced coffee I have sworn never again.

    • -1

To add to that, I had the exact drink this morning (it was all the store sold). Stuff all coffee flavour! In fact it basically tasted like an Easter egg, which was rather weird for double espresso lol

  • Wait to you see how OP saves on a coffee melt..

  • To add to this hack, you can bring your own ice from your home freezer in a small container…. just use a refrigeration bag with freezer pack to ensure no melting!

    • You could just have a thermos type cup in the car with the ice then tip the coffee into it.
