Free: Strayamate on Android and iOS with Promo Codes

Please remove if this is unsuitable.

Full disclaimer: I am the developer of both the Apps

Hi guys,

I have made an Android and iOS app both are a informal and unofficial dictionary reference of Australian slang for overseas students or people from overseas. The Android app costs $2.99 to remove ads and allows offline use, whereas the iOS app normally will cost $2.99 (AUD)

I am running a promotion currently and I have 20 promo codes for each of the apps. Promo codes will make both apps completely free to use, no ads at all. Each promocode is unique and can only be redeemed once, which is why I have not been able to provide the code in the "Coupon code" section above.

As a favour to others, if you use a code please comment which one you have used so others don't end up trying it and get disappointed!

Both apps have:
- Slang dictionary with pronunciations
- A random slang word of the day (if enabled and can be turned off by the user) on Android or a Slang word of the day widget in iOS.
- A Hangman game.
- Pictures of places around Australia with navigation.
- Ability to submit more terms!

The Android app can be found at: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=strayanslangap…
The iOS app can be found at: https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/strayamate-pro/id1363054907?…

Codes for both Android and iOS will expire on 20/04 if not used before.

To redeem in Android:
- Go the Play Store app.
- Click on the menu icon (top left).
- Scroll down to "Redeem". On my device it is just below the "Account" menu item.
- put the promo code in there. That should do it.

To redeem on App store:
- Go to the App store.
- tap on the silhouette of your profile (top right).
- tap on redeem Gift card or code.
- tap on "you can also enter your code manually".
- enter promo code. App should download.

In for potentially hilarious additional submissions to the developer.

        Is Gronk in there?

An individual with limited social value or social skills, often unpleasant to spend time with, commonly with few financial resources or future prospects.

        • Just received your submission for it, I am passing it on to her to get it added 😊 also please check your inbox.

  • Thank's embryio! I have used EZES9W84VS1WUPPCEHD4BEQ
Now I'll have a look at your good work -thanks again.

  • Tried 5 android codes. All used. Shame.

  • all android codes have been redeemed but obviously not many wish to share the status.

  • Expired but at least I learned how to redeem codes on iOS :)

  • Strewth! I missed it.
    Stone the flamin’ crows.

  • Um, I made that comment before I believe - many of the slang terms, idioms in the app are just English phrases; I assume the author is an enthusiast, not a language specialist of any kind.

So yeah, cool, the app is something, but makes the learner think that common English terms originated Downunder, which is much misleading.

    Misleading heaps.

    • The app focuses upon meaning not etymology, so I think having originally British slang which is presently used within Australia would still satisfy the stated aim of their project.

      • Yup. That's what's misleading.

        • Thanks for your feedback, we really appreciate it. Actually, many of the terms are submissions from other users of the app, and the rest of the content is curated by my partner who is a qualified ESL teacher (and all the pronunciations are recorded in her voice of course).

          • +1

@embryio: Cool. To address the issue I brought - perhaps small hints on etymology or usage would help, just like dictionaries have.

            • +1

@pizzaguy: cheers mate, can definitely take that feedback onboard

  • can you send me an IOS code?

  • Yeah send me a code and I'll update you forever. Android.

  • +1

Should post these as some sort of link to an image or something. Many sites end up having bots that claim codes.

    • Thanks for that I’ll do some more research to try and get that working. I agree, its a bit like that with dodgey scrapers grab coupon codes. Managing codes on both platforms is really underbaked and a very manual process.

  • can I get a code please for android?

  • Deals over but check this for laughs https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=yDb_WsAt_Z0

  • Nice work. Is it Native? React Native? Or Flutter? Or something else? :)

    • both are native i.e. Android is Java/Kotlin and iOS is pure swift. Nice question!

      • Yeah okay. I'm trying to learn Flutter at the moment… it's not an easy undertaking. But then again learning platform specific implementations would be harder.

        I found Android particularly finicky.

        • flutter's popularity is growing lots. Yep, Android basically has a bunch of idiosyncransies around backwards compatibility.

  • Hello.

I downloaded the app on Android on the original Pixel XL and it keeps crashing after I open it.

    • +1

hey, that's no good. I will check out the crash logs and see what we can work out. Apologies for that.

  • Hey could you please send me an android code?

    • hey mate, I have actually just run out for this quarter which ends at the end of this month! I’ll be running another promo around then. Btw, hoth apps are free with ads! the codes remove the ads.

  • does it have map of tassie in it?
