Cash Back Unpredictable Cash Backs

Does anyone else get that. Eg amazon has 10% cash back at the moment but I ended up with about 4%. No delivery etc or gst can account for that.

On CashRewards? It's up to 10% depending on what you purchased.

    • Really? That’s pretty crap. It’s unpredictable then.

      • Wow your right. Just reran it and found the fine print. It’s pretty small subset.

Read the terms and conditions. Nearly all cash back purchases are for 4%.

    • They are saying 10% at the moment

Not sure where you got 'about 4%'? If you did, then yes - it's unpredictable. Are you sure it wasn't 5%?

Handy hint: Click on Cashback then select 19 more offers.

    • Yeah already found it after my friend earlier posted that.

Its also unpredictable because sometimes it doesn't actually pay the reward (yes i did all the steps)

Raise a ticket with CR support and send tightarse a message
There's bugs here and there (many different stores, their partner and customer environments are out of their control), but only if you raise it to their attention can they fix it up for the better

  • CashRewards

Nuff said, stopped bothering with it after they scammed me out of a few high paying Cash backs, playing they didn't track. But oddly the 'cheaper' ones did.

I've had some really high paying successful cashback with CR.. usually Sony items

Most recent ones that have been tracked and paid out, transactions made in Dec 2018, one at $3999

But oddly the 'cheaper' ones did.

You should be raising a ticket for every incident with CR.

      Whinging does nothing.
Unless you forget to click/are double-dipping with other cashback sites, TA is very active on OzB to help.
I've had hiccups in the past too (no system is perfect).

Each ticket you raise, gives them an opportunity to make it right or fix a bug that may have been unnoticed.
It's like raising an issue with OH&S.
      Do you:
      A) Have a small accident, have a whinge, do nothing about it and let others potentially also have an accident.
      B) Have a small accident, raise an incident report with management and get them to fix it up so no one else also runs into the same problem?
      C) Just keep whinging every time you see a slightly negative CR post? - in this instance, OP didn't read "Up to"

      • You should be raising a ticket for every incident with CR.

I have, They just give the I didn't do something right answer or it wasn't tracked for some reason. Yes they pay for the smaller ones etc when you do this.

        B) Have a small accident, raise an incident report with management and get them to fix it up so no one else also runs into the same problem?

Did this, they blame everyone but them. Funny, their sites shows a click before each purchase, and the cheaper items on this site went through, but the more costly one in the middle didn't even thought it has a click through and wow the cheaper one at the end went through. Hmmmmm

I've also had expedia one showing as tracked and the declined for no reason. Again a ticket to them 3 months after the purchase says expedia declined it and its all too late!? but I mustn't have clicked through correctly. Odd, many many other sites work ok for CR, and on this one it was a BIG cashback, so I took screenshots etc as I was going through, showing the CR toolbar saying its active for the site etc.

Anyhow after this wasn't paid I gave up on them, too much hassle and you can't really factor in the cashback in the final price.

        C) Just keep whinging every time you see a slightly negative CR post? - in this instance, OP didn't read "Up to"

You can see it like that, or is it a warning? I gave reasons why etc.

Your post could be seen as a fanboy/someone on the payroll.

        ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

        • Your post could be seen as a fanboy/someone on the payroll.

As can anyone who has had happy experiences with CR?

And by that token of logic, you could either be:
          a) Unhappy past customer of CR with unresolved issues
          b) Fanboy/someone on the payroll of a competitor

But I don't believe you are b.. you just seem like someone who's given up on cashback schemes altogether due to tracking issues.
Just curious - have you ever tried a different computer or browser? Serious question.
There are so many factors out of any cashback site's control that could screw up the tracking, so many unknown variables that one may not have thought of (for example, pre-orders maybe delivered after approval periods and thus a cashback site may show a denied claim).

I work for one of Dell Technologies' companies/subsidaries, not Dell computers.
I also work for a certain large sporting goods retailer, although I am not in any official capacity to represent either of them.
Not sure how I can prove I work for them apart from send an email from either of my company emails.
You are welcome to request it should you feel free to do so. I am always 100% transparent.

Again a ticket to them 3 months after the purchase says expedia declined it and its all too late!?

You want to chase something up 3 months after it's been declined!? Isn't that a little too late for a lot of things?
I had experiences with Expedia but that was years ago.. worked fine for me
I've also had an Adrenaline experience not track as well, but eventually that was resolved.

Did this, they blame everyone but them. Funny, their sites shows a click before each purchase, and the cheaper items on this site went through, but the more costly one in the middle didn't even thought it has a click through and wow the cheaper one at the end went through. Hmmmmm

From your words it looks like you are buying one item per transaction…? Are you 100% positive you may not have skipped a cashback (whether CR or SB) click right before the payment stage?

Anyhow after this wasn't paid I gave up on them, too much hassle and you can't really factor in the cashback in the final price.

I never factor in the cashback, I treat it as a bonus.. If anyone is making purchasing decisions based on cashback after 3-6 months, I think they really need to reconsider their financial situation.
It's like saying "I'm not going to buy this specific food because I won't receive any Woolworths Rewards Points".

Anyway, I really hope you find peace from missing out on cashback schemes (do you have any VPNs active/weird crazy adblockers/ghostery privacy add-on?). All in the spirit of saving money :)

I choose what was best from your list, now if you had that option, I would have selected it :)

You want to chase something up 3 months after it's been declined!?

Not 3 months AFTER it was declined, it sat pending for 3 months in the CR system for 3 months before going declined. At that point I chased it up. So 3 months after purchase.

Just curious - have you ever tried a different computer or browser? Serious question.

Yes, no ad blockers enabled during these sessions etc. Its so random, I just can't be bothered with it anymore. Chasing up transactions for a handful of cents here and there isn't worth it for me.

From your words it looks like you are buying one item per transaction…? Are you 100% positive you may not have skipped a cashback (whether CR or SB) click right before the payment stage?

In the case of 3 transactions in one night not working, it was different transactions going to different addresses if you must know.

It was over a few hours, and the clicks show I clicked through before payment on each transaction.

I really hope you find peace from missing out on cashback schemes

Peace is found thanks. I don't bother with any cashback, so its not a anti cashrewards issue if thats what you're thinking.

Just burnt too many times on what always seems the high valued cash backs, which then throws out the 'bargain' if you had been factoring in the cashback into the price. etc.

I'm all good, I now just leave ad blockers on and just pay 'full price' at the web checkout :)

Ah that's a shame.. I don't know the mechanics of how Expedia tracks it.. might have their own rules for each type of booking as well

Just remember to pay with discounted gift cards from EntertainmentBook/wherever if you can!
