EB/JB Trade In Games Trick

Ok so this is a deal I saw at EB Games.

Increase your percentage by adding extra trade ins:

2 x Games = 10%
4 x Games = 20%
8 x Games = 50%

Ok now for the tricky part, L.A Noire at EB is priced at $108 however at JB it's priced at $78. L.A Noire is valued at $64 as a trade in from EB. So now do the math:

Purchase 8 copies from JB at a total price of $624
Trade in the games at EB at $64 a pop add your 50% bonus which then equals to a total amount of $768.00

Go Bananas and spend that credit on whatever you want. You could even go back and do it again or better yet get EB to price match and repeat the process. Not sure who can be bothered to do this but thought i'd throw it up on here anyways.

NOTE: I have not tried this so don't blame me if it doesn't work. Just a heads on the trade in specials they current have.

EB Games are so over priced that the extra trade credit doesn't mean much

    • To be fair they do price match.

      • Not for normal customers, you have to put their feet to the fire most of the time.

why not get LA Noire from ebay ? - $48

You can't trade in more than one copy of a game at a time.

    • that
      and also the overprice bit!

    • -6

thats true. and eb tends to record your name, apparently they will report to police

        For doing what?

  • +1

good on you mate for sharing! :D

  • +4

    Boycott EB!

  • OP, have your tried it? Or is it just a theory at this stage?

  • +1

Appreciate the effort but this isn't a deal. Should be in the forums.

  • u could go to game
buy cheap games and trade it in
they have like some extra 30 bucks deal for 4 games traded

  • +2

all that work and u get an extra 20% on top of what u spent

however EB has a mark up on games of over 20%
and since u cant convert into cash or vouchers for anotehr shop……

Either way guys this is still a deal at EB Games:
Increase your percentage by adding extra trade ins:

    2 x Games = 10%
    4 x Games = 20%
    8 x Games = 50%

I just looked at it a different way…haha!
PS no i haven't tried it.

    • +3

      This thing is a scam
      2 x Games = 10%
      4 x Games = 20%
      8 x Games = 50%

I had 34 games to trade and went to both JB and EB this morning, got more from JB even with the +50% from EB (and +15% with the Edge card)… so what they are really doing (as usual) is reducing the valuation so, after applying the "extra bonus stuff" you're still getting less.
And at least at JB you can buy other things and not only games… And JB buy your oversea PAL games, EB may accept some and not all

People get banned for doing this, HAVEN'T WE LEARNED!??

  • Do you work for JB HiFi ?

  • you should change the title, tricks aren't bargains

    • +8

Illusion, motlking. A trick is something a whore does for money…

      … or candy!

      • +1

can't + your comment enough cmdwedge!

  • +2

Does anyone actually want to spend $768 at EB at once?

  • I did confront an EB cashier and ask him if this in theory would work if I were to price match with JB and he replied with "why don't you just buy them all from JB, and trade in here"

    • +2

People that work at the shop dont give a crap, all they want is their pay.

  • +2

You'd have to be a serious gamer to want to spend $624 on games in one go for store credit (from EB of all places!) just for an extra $144 credit.

  • stupid waste of time and money to get a stupid credit that can only be used at EB

only idiots try and rort the system, and it doesnt work anyway!

    • +3

Used to work lol. Now we just buy them from overseas and save the hassle.

  • +1

    lol tricks are for kids

  • it's a hack, not a bargain. and has anyone actually done it? That $144 will disappear quickly once you take their grossly inflated prices into account.

    • +1 should belong in the forums though!

  • +1 for the effort

  • Not many (if any) EB Games stores will allow you to trade in 8 copies of the one game.

  • +2

Paying $624 for $768 of EB Credit is not a good deal. Especially when you run the risk of them not accepting 8 copies of the same game in one transaction.

  • Worth trying for those with tons of Eb games credit in stock from past trade deals. Go to Eb to purchase the games while pricematching with Jbhifi. The worst it will go is just that you get what you paid for in credits (with the 7 days trade back deal). Actually, nevertheless you will get 1 copy trade back at $94.30 ($82 + edge 15%). So profit nevertheless. If you must, then do it multiple time and sell the giftcard once and for all (or to cardlimbo)

Hey guys, JB Hifi in Sydney Galleries Victoria had a pretty good deal for LA Noire: Trade in 3 games, get LA Noire for free. I traded in Resident Evil 5 (second hand copy from EB games), Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 and Little Big Planet - all of which were on the JB Hifi non-exclusion list.

PRO TIP: Trade in your copies of Little Big PlanetASAP! With the Playstation Network screwup, the game is now being offered free by Sony as an apology. Not sure if they're on JB Hifi's list or not, but worthwhile trying the same for Infamous, Wipeout and a few others too.

  • +2

    16 x Games = 100%??

    • math fail :P

  • I think EB has the right to refuse trade in's of more than one copy of the same game. Just so you all know what the risks are.

  • As I put in previously, buy from eb games through price match, so there will be no risk as worst case scenario would be you getting a refund, not trade ins.
