  • How would these compare to Global knives?

    • +3

I've used both and tbh, I'd rather have the Furis'. Many will disagree but this has been my experience.
There are plenty of not so impressed people out there who have owned Global knives for a few short years.
They tend to get 'pitted' edges over time and I feel are more for those who have reasonable to excellent sharpening skills.
The Furis' are more responsive for the average and/or non expert sharpener and will bounce when they hit the floor.
Globals, being harder metal (& more brittle) like most Jap' knives are not so forgiving with accidental misuse, if dropped they will most likely chip or snap in half.
A Furi' is more likely to simply bounce and not break.

      • I have a global Asian cooks knife and it has lasted many many years (at least 5+ now).

Yes it has some tiny chips in it from abuse, but then again I have never sharpened it properly to repair the edge.

I have a set of cheap quality Kogan knives (global knife style in appearance) and you can tell that the global knife is 1000 times better no matter how I sharpen the cheap knives.

Interestingly Furi don't publish what exact steel they use so i don't know how good it is

        • I've no idea on the matter of steel used by Furi' myself. :O]

Personally I believe those tiny chips develop not so much from misuse but instead because the Globals are made by using very hard metal/alloy combos and seemingly/characteristically a bit brittle along the edges.

They certainly are awesome when freshly sharpened, there is NO arguing with that IMO.

    • they dont, get global and a good sharpener.
over 7+ years of HEAVY use and they look and feel like i bought them yesterday.

  • They're good….quick and the dead eh?

  • Had to use the PLANTS20 code as PCLICK didn't work for me, but same result. Thanks OP.
