So I'm looking for sessions for Avengers:End Game and my local Event Cinemas has 3D sessions OR VMax but not both combined (this actually happens a fair bit with movies I like)… I like big screens and also 3D movies! which one should I book? Should I enjoy the bigger screen and forget about 3D (but wonder how much cooler certain scenes would be in 3D) or should I go 3D and forgo the larger screen realestate? How much bigger is VMax compared to standard screens?…so many questions, help me make the right choice ozBargainers
VMax Vs 3D Event Cinemas

 - Why? You lose detail when watching in 3D. - Vmax/imax would offer the best viewing experience. Best screen and sound - interesting, I didn't realise you lost detail in the cinema with the way the film is projected, I knew that 3D at home can be lower resolution with the use of passive or active 3D TV's - I was pretty sure you do, I thought by nature 3D halves the resolution. - But in serious action sequences you do miss detail and for what? To see a few things pop out of the screen? - Nope, big screen and/or recliner is how to see this. Don't see it on a pleb screen in a regular seat, not for 3hrs!
 - I'm pretty sure that all 3D screenings are in 2K resolution as there is no 4K 3D standard in digital cinema.

 - Try 4DX, much cooler experience.
 - Cons of 3D: - Your brain has to work extra hard to make sense of what is happening. It gets tiring after an hour.
- your eyes has to refocus quickly enough to follow the whole picture in fast action scenes or it all becomes a blur.
- it has lower contrast in dark scenes and generally more ghosting of objects and problems.
 - It's a no brainer , really.
 - vmax, easy choice - 3d means lower resolution, lower contrast and more time your brain spends trying to focus than watching the movie - 3d is a gimmick, and should be priced accordingly ;)
 - I've never had an issue with headaches or trying to focus on the screen, I believe the glasses take care of all the filtering etc.
I actually quite enjoy 3D films, I do agree the screen is dimmed a little when viewing through the glasses but it's never posed a big problem for me so far, sometimes the glasses can restrict my field of vision which can annoy. I also love high resolution screens so will have to decide soon
 - I ended up in a 3D session and loved it, was kinda glad I chose it in the end as the picture quality seemed great too

I would reccomend 3D for this one. You can always go VMAX when you watch it the second time :D
