TRS Claim on Price Matched item

Greetings, I could not find an answer for this…has anyone done a TRS claim for an item priced matched by OfficeWorks? OW has told me the invoice will have the real price and also the price matched rate. Real price is above $300 and price matching will bring it below $300. So, will I be able to claim based on the real amount?

Thanks

You can only claim on what you paid. In this case the price after price matched

    • thanks i figured so but thought would check :)

Also, i take it the same applies for items in discount. Binglee has some headphones on discount, I suppose the invoice would show the discounted price?

      • Depends on how they print the invoice. If the invoice doesn't show the discount, you'll be able to claim GST back on the un-discounted rate.

  • I have TRS'd something I price matched at Harvey Norman. The invoice listed the price matched price.

You can claim the real amount IF they don't add it on the invoice, happens a lot with eBay stuff where there's a coupon (and yes I've done this too).

Just claim whatever is on the invoice you'll be fine

    • so HN didn't list the price matched price?

      • They did that's what I mean. I've done all. Price matched price and original price (after price match) and discounted coupons on eBay etc

Just claim whatever is on the invoice and you can't go wrong

        • ah ok. would be nice to get that GST discount as im flying out Monday. I suppose i Can always give it go.

          • @lknight: Oh sorry didn't read the $300 part. Friday arvos and all that.

Yeah you wouldn't be able to claim anything if the invoices (per ABN) total is under $300, it has to be over $300. You can always buy something cheap and push it over.

          • @lknight: Just go back to OW to buy something else to push your discounted price over the $300 threshold. Doesn't have to be on 1 single invoice, just need the same ABN

Might be worth buying something small (less than 27$) to take it over the 300 threshold so u can claim the gst

It just has to be $300 at the one shop/abn it can be on multiple invoices as long as it’s in the time frame.

  • thanks all for your replies. Im seeing if I can buy something there to bring this up to $300 :)

You'll be able to claim the price you PAID for the item.

as long as over $300. it will be fine. it should have abn number prinyed, and anything over $1000 must have your name and address printed on receipt.

  • Great to see so much good advice regarding the TRS from people who know what they are talking about.
Sadly, it isn’t always the case.

  • Make sure you allow enough time to make your claim at the airport. Last time I had a domestic to international connection with 1h45m in between. By the time we got through customs, the plane was already boarding. I had a look at the TRS claim desk and there was a massive queue, so I missed out.

    • Should have asked whether there is a drop box available (I know that they sometimes do when it's busy)

      • Ha ha, last time at Sydney airport, they not allow me to talk to them regarding the drop box form. they told me they won't answer any question and get back to the queue………
It took me 1.5 hours waiting………..

  • Can't believe how wrong most of you guys are.

It's not what price you paid.

    Its what the invoice says.

As long as the gst component is correctly calculated at 9.09%

Trs goes by what the invoice says. That is unless you say you paid less in which they'd probsbly ignore you.

Imagine you paid $1000 for something and the shop gave you a $500 invoice for whatever reason.
Trs arent going to believe you if you say, i paid $1000 for it.

Same with ebay 10% off sales, the invoice says $1000 with $90.9 get even if you paid $900 for it
