    Are they wide or narrow

    • +2

I have a semi-wide, fairly flat foot with a larger than standard instep. These boots fit quite well. They are not fashionable, and they are not safety boots, but I've had a pair for about 4 years now, they've been soaking wet more times than I can remember, they get worn in the mud and muck, doing yard work, farms, etc. They are very durable.

      • Does flat foot need shoes or boots with internal support arch?
I have no idea with this boot

        • Generally the difference between a shoe with good arch support and bad is just the insole.

I do need a shoe with arch support. These, as standard, have pretty average insoles in them. I replace them with better ones (as I do with all my shoes).

  • Did anyone else get their Rewards email immediately? I signed up but haven't received anything for about 10 minutes.

    • Me either.

      • I'll have to wait to get it, got my eye on this which comes down to $35 with the code: https://www.rivers.com.au/shop/chelsea-boot/p/104637_BLACK_1…

        • It's worth noting that these don't have the goodyear welted sole like the posted ones. They do look much more attractive though.

@macrocephalic: Yeah getting as an office shoe, so will do almost no miles, but they're typically fair quality. Also a good way to get a black shoe into the repertoire, I almost always wear brown but every once in a while need a black.

Sent them a message on Facebook, apparently it usually takes up to 24 hours but they forced one through for me. Code was WELCOMEDA, which looks generic enough for you to try.

        • +1

The code worked for me. Thanks

  • Got this last time it was on sale, surprisingly comfy and well built. would recommend

  • Is this deal in store too? Keen to try some on and check quality.

    • Outer quality is excellent. The insoles aren't very good though, look to swap them out.

  • Silly/random question…do people wear these only on work sites or casually only?

    • They are definitely not a Chelsea style boot.
I do not wear mine casually.

    • I probably wouldn't wear these out but I work in the office at a manufacturing site so would probably get away with it. They're probably between a good dress shoe and a pair of work boots.

    • +1

These are not safety boots, so many sites will not allow you to wear them. They are ok as casual shoes (I mean really casual). They are good for general labour and yard work, or any type of outdoors recreation outside of serious hiking.

Say it plain - it's a dad boot.

        • Probably, yes. It's a quick - slip on, durable shoe good for any time that you don't have to look good.

  • Can someone tell me how long this sale will last? Thanks

  • Does anyone know if the Chelsea boots are Leather? I asked support and they said to check in store as they cannot confirm online.

    • These ones are: https://www.rivers.com.au/shop/chelsea-boot/p/104637_BLACK_1…

I would be surprised if the more expensive ones weren't, but worth ringing them up I guess.

      • And these ones specifically say when they are not leather: https://www.rivers.com.au/shop/men/shoes/boots/chelsea-boot/…

        • Called my local store, confirmed they are leather.

Price has gone up online though, now $72 despite displaying 50% off still.

          • @buoyant: Looks like a lot of them have, I got in a second order about 15 minutes ago, so got lucky…

      • Thanks. Are these (the leather ones) Goodyear welted?

        • +1

The chelsea boots are not goodyear welted, only the work boots (original post) and some of their lace up work boots I think (I have both).

          • @macrocephalic: Thanks for your reply. How would you rate their leather Chelsea boots compared to other brands?

            • @starbearer: No idea. I own a pair of the elastic sided goodyear welted boots, and a pair of the lace up goodyear welted boots. Both are sturdy. The lace up ones have been used as travel [hiking] shoes and stood up quite well (a few stitches have come loose on one, but that's all).
