What Is The Actual Cost of a Swimming Lesson from this website?

Below is the list price of swimming lessons on the website at Monash University swimming pool.

When you look at the price list and read all the explanations below, as a consumer, what do you think the actual cost that the student has to pay fortnightly on either 30, 45 or 60 minutes class?

  • To take the 30min class for example

I would say it would be $31.8 (every fortnight) paid 24 times for a total of $763.2 per year.

This would give you 40 lessons.

What do you think it is?

  • Thanks. I was trying to compare the cost between different swimming centres. Initially I thought the 30 minutes lesson would be $31.8/fortnightly but with your calculation, it actually is $38.16.

    • I am confused where the 38.16 came from lol.

Ahh I see, so you can go to as many/little classes per week as you like

  • My mistake was when I first look at the table, I thought it mean 2 x 30 minutes lesson would cost $31.8 but with your calculation, 2 lessons would be $38.16.

Not sure what you meant by "the students can go to as many/little classes per week as you like" but if they pay $31.8/fortnightly, they can go to the pool to practice on their own as many times as they like.

If you want 1 lesson per week it's $31.80 per fortnight. If you want 2 lessons per week it's $47.70 per fortnight

    Seems easy enough

    • Yes, it seems easy. The customers only need to be aware that there will 4 fortnights per annum that they still have to pay $31.80 but no lesson for them to attend. Because there are only 40 lessons/annum.

      • Yeah it goes by "terms" where you'll have two weeks of no lessons in between each term.

You can only attend that one class per week but you can practice/swim as many times as you like. Unlimited entry.
