Telstra FTTH Smart Modem Gen 2 Should I Return It?

Hi everyone,

I've recently signed up for Telstra FTTH and received Telstra Smart Modem Gen 2

I have been told that if I was to cancel the service within 24 month I have to pay for the modem
It is quit likely I will be canceling before 24 months

Is this modem anygood or worth the $200 price tag?
Should I return it to prevent Telstra from charging me in the future?

Any thoughts?

    Doesn't really matter if it is worth $200 now as you've agreed to 'pay' 200 for it. Don't think you can return it now, especially if you've used it.

    This isn't a option now, as you have agreed to

    If you cancel early then think of the $200 modem fee as a exit fee.

    i asked the same question and the answer was to keep it sealed and return it when you leave

    its totally useless outside the telstra ecosystem, therefore you cant use it on any other ISP afaik.
    so just return it.
