Cheapest Option Now for Nintendo Switch

Hi Trusted Ozbarginers,

Left it to the last minute, but my sons bday is tomorrow and we want to get him a switch. Should have ordered last week when EB Games had them for $360 but silly me didn't.

Whats the best option right now for pick up?

Thinking amazon same day delivery for $~410 with cash back might be way to go. I have a 28degree card so can utilise price protection hopefully in the next 12 months.

Any other brilliant suggestions, please let me know!

  • Amazon for $410 is probably your best bet at the moment. Can't seem to see them any cheaper. Big W back up to $449.

    • Amazon has them for $428 now.
You can get them for $404 from Big W eBay Free Post with eBay Plus or $405 with Free delivery from City Of Games eBay. Both use the PEEL20 10% off eBay code.

Good deals. But OP needs same day delivery or pick up today.

        • Do BigW ebay do click and collect same day? Thinking that might be the best option. Ordered on Amazon but didnt realise delivery could be up to 9pm (used work address) rather get from physical store if timing is possible.

  • Does it matter if they’re new? Cash converters has second hand ones for well under $400 if you can find a shop near you that has one.

Or if you want new and pick up in store, you could go to big w and use 5% off wish gift cards.

new switch models are on the horizon (supposedly a hi spec and low spec one), can you promise him you'll get him one when they are announced?

  • Buy from ebgames eBay with 10% off with PEEL20 and do C&C

    • 469 @ 10% off = $422.10, likely the best option since OP needs it today.

  • Wait for the E3 announcement in June. Waiting is good for kids. Count it down.

    • You must not have kids, bit hard to say, sorry I havent got you a present on your birthday, but good news its coming a month tho! ;)

Got CC price protection so hopefully it'll drop the switch prices a bit.

      • Remember me when your kid decides they want the newer model. :) :p If I had my way they'd get a Nintendo 64 and learn the classics!

        • uh.. are you forgetting the NES?

        • Hes had one console in his life so far being a $29 Wii with single controller sourced from here last year. Should be happy with switch for a decent amount of time.

      • hi son I'm getting you a 400 buck present, suck it up and wait until it's cheaper or u are getting a matchbox car from big w

damn wish u were my dad

        • You're too late. I already disowned and disinherited you and challenge the paternity test for not understanding the MIO0 standard.

Just wanted to chime in here, I had my 14th birthday when I turned 16. I had been promised a trip to a Gokart track and we didn't have enough money at the time (single parent). It was a life lesson in delayed gratification, ended up having my 14th and my 16th one after another. Friends thought it was great fun.

I suppose the takeaway from that is it doesn't hurt as much as you think it will and it can be a great object lesson for saving money?

However you want to do it, just my 2cents.

I hope your kid enjoys the switch!

  • Thanks all for the contributions to my post.

Just an update, ordered via Amazon same day delivery only to find out it gets delivered between 6-9pm. I originally put my work address as I thought it was be in work hours but couldn't change the address once order is placed and our mail room shuts at 430 :( ended up getting one second hand switch for $280 with 3 online purchased games (Mario kart,Mario oddesey and some other one I cant remember). Still under warranty till September too!
