Hi All
Im wondering what’s the best way to fly from Sydney to Dublin using my 276K Qantas Points and 100K Amex Points? I would like to fly my partner and I business class return or even economy to Dublin and then business back to Sydney leaving mid July and returning in August. Looking at Emirates or Qatar. Any help appreciated.

Hi Vincent, thanks for very helpful post. Where did you check this? I was looking on Qantas Rewards but all I could find was economy availability even when I chose business class.
Japan Airlines is a good one for oneworld awards search which I have used today.

I help people book frequent flyer flights so I am using various frequent flyer website to perform the availability search. It may be hard to replicate the result on the Qantas website as their award engine is severely choked / limited.
Good find on the business class seats, but requires 278,000 points, and $1,032. OP needs to get another 2,000 points.
Correct, if OP is short by a few thousand points then you can try Qantas Family Transfer from a member of a family that may have the shortfall amount.
side Q: but i always though you'd use the points to upgrade but i guess this would be hard to even get the upgrade as the seats would be bought earlier?
e.g. i buy economy premium tickets and then want to upgrade to business class with my points but i wouldn't be able to upgrade as all the business tickets have been booked out?
or would i be able to do the upgrade after i buy the seats to secure the upgrade to business class?
Anyone care to do a check for upgrade availability or if there is many business class seats available from Doha to Sydney with Qatar around August 8/9 or 10. Flight departs Doha at 20:35 local time. May convert my AEMX points to Q Miles if there is. TIA
you will not have enought miles to get even one business class seat using your 100k Amex points.
100k Amex points will get you a one way economy ticket for 1 person only on Cathay Pacific.
264k Qantas points will get you a one way business class ticket for 2 people on Emirates. This is in theory only because there is a 99.8% chance that there will be no availability for July & August. Unless you fly in low season, very organised people book out these seats 11 months in advance. You do not have enough points for 2 one way business class tickets on Qatar but the same availability issue applies.
