Bought a New UPS, What Should I Do with My Old One?

Hi all,

I recently bought a new UPS with more power and plugs.

Just wondering what I should do with my two year old cyberpower value600 UPS.

I was thinking of giving it to my upstairs neighbour for his ps4 and TV, but I don't think it has enough power for even a few minutes, in which time he could safely shut down the ps4.

Any advice on what to use it on, or how to store it as back up would be more appreciated.

Take the battery out and drop it at a recycling plant. Then give it to your neighbor or put it on gumtree for $20 pickup only. A new battery will probably be required anyway.

Purley out of interest as I need to buy one, what UPS did you buy to replace your old one?

  • Sweet. Thanks for the advice.

    I bought
    https://www.apc.com/shop/au/en/products/APC-Back-UPS-1400VA-…

Was 215 on ebay and I got it for 195.

Has 6 plugs so I can put nbn modem, nas, router, ps4 and TV

    • Why’d you get that one? Can’t replace the battery?

I need one for my Synology nas. Can I get from you for free?

    Oh battery not good already…

  • Battery seems fine?
I don't have a tester. It's two years old, it never ran off battery for long (had nas set to 3min shut down) but I suppose just having power going through it would wear it out.

If you wanna come pick it up, you're welcome to it.

    • Pm you now. Cheers

    • If ChiMot not going to take it may i take it for test?

      • I guess so.

        • I'll take it off your hands if above folks fall through. :)

Plug it in to your new UPS

Turn on the UPS, remove the powercord, plug powercord into a backup socket. Record what happens and put on YouTube.

Daisy chain the UPS's and repeat.
