  • I saw that Uber comfort was cheaper when I used Uber tonight for a short trip. However, it would have been a much longer wait. I also noticed the minimum fare is higher and I couldn't tell if there minimum fare was discounted as well, so went with normal Uber x anyway.

  • What's Uber Comfort?

Uber X gives me new cars with ample legroom and drivers rated 4.9 (for cheaper) - what's uncomfortable about that?

    • Comfort is basically for people who don't want an inexperienced and/or low rated driver. Comfort drivers have done at least 500 trips and are rated 4.85 or above. The vehicles also have to be under 7 years old, however, this is no guarantee that you are going to get a better or more comfortable vehicle, so the name is misleading. You could get a brand-new tiny little Mitsubishi Mirage, whereas the normal UberX driver you missed out on could have had a 8-year-old Caprice or other large vehicle which would have been far more comfortable.

      • You're wrong - Mitsubishi Mirage isn't on their list of eligible Uber Comfort vehicles, see here

        • Interesting - didn't know there were specific vehicle requirements. Uber never mentioned this at all. The list makes no sense anyway - why do they accept a Lancer or Impreza, but not a Corolla, Civic, Cruze, or Focus?

Anyway, good to know there's a chance of getting a Cadillac Escalade if I book Comfort.

  • UberX and Uber comfort is same thing , same car same drivers with 4.9 ratings , Uber is getting greedy, want to charge more for same service.

    • I too am boycotting the ‘premiumisation’ of uber’s core offering. “Oh you want a good uber? Well you see, that costs extra”

Nope, UberX is a driver with any rating, Uber Comfort is a driver with a 4.85 or above.

    • Whoops, that was my mistake, it indeed is what they previously called Uber X Plus, you are right.

  • +3

Comfort was not previously referred to as Uber Select.
    It is X Plus renamed

  • +3

    Wrong, Comfort is not Select.

Comfort is a normal UberX, however it's a larger vehicle with an experienced driver that has a rating of at least 4.85. You basically pay 20% over standard rates to get - in theory - a more comfortable/roomier car with a good driver.

    Details: https://www.uber.com/en-AU/drive/melbourne/vehicle-requireme…

It was trialed earlier this year as "UberX Plus", but likely renamed as every drunk shitwit picked it thinking it was for more than four passengers and getting upset at paying cancel fees when the car that arrived wasn't what they expected.

As a driver, I can say it's actually been quite popular. A few passengers have mentioned that they choose it because they've had poor experiences with some drivers.

    • Nope, no difference in size or vehicle type between Comfort and UberX. The only difference is in age - Comfort vehicles have to be less than 7 years old, whereas UberX vehicles have to be less than 10 years old. However, within the next few years, all Uber vehicles will have to be under 7 years old, so there will be less point of difference.

Judging by the list of eligible vehicles, I don't see some of the usual UberX cars on there such as VW Polo, Audi A3 (unless sports version) or Suzuki Swift. To me, Uber Comfort seems to be somewhere between UberX and Uber Select but I'll let you judge for yourself if it's worth the extra money.

  • hi, can anyone confirm whether it is possible to stack referral credit with cashrewards' cashback? TIA
