[Switch] Celeste - $20.10 (Was $30, 33% off), Towerfall - $15 (Was $30, 50% off) @ Nintendo eShop

500

I believe this is the lowest price both these games have ever been on Switch. Both top tier games from the same developer. Celeste is truly a masterpiece for anyone yet to try it - highly recommend.

  • Finally it's on special. Will buy it for sure. Thanks op.

  • Celeste is never on sale… If you havn't got it and like platformers, give it a go. It is fantastic.

  • Finally can save myself that $10!

  • Been waiting on Celeste! Thanks OP!

  • I recently got Cuphead, it’s freaking hard and I love it. Is this game similar in terms of difficultly? Which is the better game?

    • I believe they're quite different. Never played Cuphead myself, but it's an intentionally hard mega man style game whereas Celeste is more akin to Super Meat Boy, but encourages you throughout the game so that all of it feels possible whilst being incredibly tricky and precise at times

  • How aggravating is it? I CBF with super meat boy

    • The reviews and comments in this post speak for themselves

  • I gave up waiting for Celeste a month ago after waiting the whole year. 😪

Oh well, it was well worth it! Great game. My partner who literally never plays games is getting through it slowly too, so don't worry too much about the difficulty. There's options to make it easier. It does take perseverance though - but that makes the story that much more engaging.

Highly recommended to use a controller with a dpad. Playing it with the joycons was definately a challenge.

Does towerfall have any incentive to play single player?

    • Does towerfall have any incentive to play single player?

      Some, but not $15 worth

    • Atleast the dpad on the joycon works. The pro controller is awfully. Thankfully, in Celeste, I've only ever used it for down right dashes through bubbles, which is ok on the pro controller. I never needed something as precise in the other parts of the game.

    • …so, if you need a different controller then practically speaking this game is not really portable is it?

      • Well, it's what I recommend but TBH I finished the whole game only using joycons. Once I got to the B-sides and needed more precise movement, I was struggling with the joycons and could do things a lot easier with a dualshock - But I still mainly use the joycons. It can just be difficult doing quick diagonal jumps/dashes but it's totally possible.

  • Interesting that Towerfall (on PC) went 66% and 75% off in Steam sales in 2015, but since then has only ever been discounted by 50%.

I guess they are trying to establish a new baseline of maximum 50% discount on their games. Interested to see if they hold to that, or eventually start discounting it further again.

I guess I should just buy it now (or at least, that is what they are trying to make me think!!) :)

    • Does the steam version include all the DLC like the Switch version? And does it also include the 6 player mode?

      • Nah, it doesn't.

(FYI, I'm not comparing the price/discount between PC and Switch, I was just analysing the price history on PC to see if there was anything that could potentially be extrapolated to indicate future sales strategy on the Switch!) :)

  • Yeah the joycon really isn't quite good enough for a game like Celeste. Functional, but it's easy to feel justified in blaming the controller.
