Xiaomi Mi 9 eBay Seller Confusion

Before I bought the Mi 9 from the seller, I asked if it is a brand new unopened Global version phone. The seller replied:

"It is an International Model. The item comes with retail box and brand new with our company QC seal label."

My mistake was, I bought the phone before reading it carefully. He said it is an International Model, not Global model. "comes with retail box" not "brand new unopened"

Some mentioned that

"International" version = Chinese version with Global ROM
"Global version" = Global version

Is that the reason they need their QC seal for the International model?

I have requested for cancelation before they send out the phone, but they are currently stalling the request.

they prolly get the chinese model and loaded the global rom in it, that's why its opened

    • That is the reason I am fixing my careless mistake by requesting a refund. Still waiting.

    Likely outcome;
    Seller: Sorry already shipped out

    • That is what I am afraid of. The seller is stalling until the item is shipped. Then tells me: Sorry already shipped out.

If that happens, Can I still ship it back in the original "QC Sealed" package and get a full refund without the 50% restocking fee?

      • Return postage is expensive. Check it out.
Check the sellers T&Cs re returns.
If you do return it make sure it is registered parcel and insured.
Asian sellers have no rules/laws to obey so they can claim the phone was used / damaged / not received even with a signature for delivery.

This game of using sneaky descriptions for Xiaomi phones has been happening for years.
Thousands get screwed by it and Xiaomi dont want to know about it. All sellers do it, not just ebay.
Once they have your money you have little chance of getting out of it.
Xiaomi phones that arrive not factory sealed have been reflashed. The scammers try to say it is because they opened it to test it for you and that is a total lie.
They make great phones but their sellers are the exact opposite.

  • I've had that happened to me before, I ordered 4 phones at the time. At the end my conclusion was that the warranty I'm getting is probably trash anyway and the phones were cheap enough. Just make sure you reflash them to the global ROM yourself because you have no idea what they actually installed!

  • I have requested for cancelation before they send out the phone, but they are currently stalling the request.

The seller isn't required under ACL to offer a refund for a change of mind.

    • But the phone they are going to send is different from the list. It is not "Brand new, Unopened".

  • Finally, they agreed to send a sealed global version. Once obtain the serial number/IMEI, it can be verified with the following link: https://www.mi.com/global/verify/#/en/tab/imei

    Still waiting for the phone.

    • Finally, received today. It is a sealed Global version.
